First, Final Fantasy XV was never a XIII spin-off, it was called versus XIII because it was supposed to be everything that XIII was not. Second, XIII and XV were made by completely different teams, saying XV will be bad because XIII was is completely illogical and without a base.

Leaving in honorifics isn't lazy, it's appropriate. Most Japanese games have a setting that is inspired by Japan's culture to some degree, and honorifics and levels of respect are one of the most important things in Japan. No game should be that much westernized that it loses its original spirit, just because you find it weird to hear Sir Auron or something (even though honorifics where a thing in the West as well not so long ago).
