The tracking method PSNProfiles uses is based off trophy unlock times, so if you can freely edit the trophy data, the system means absolutely nothing.

Also I disagree about the article. If people can't hit the cap without cheating, what difference does it make if that is the current cap?

Someone figures out how to flat out hack trophies.
Nextgenupdate gets an update to do it.
Someone hits level 100.

Yup, totally legit and worth an article.

The problem is, most of your "innovations" were trivial at best and predated a LOT of companies getting involved. Like Super Mario Kart predated the PlayStation even existing, so it's not a fair comparison. Even some of your examples aren't true. Like I would say the palm pilot predated the DS touchscreen stuff by 7 years and features some games like minesweeper. I think if we're counting button count and controller ports as innovations, then I don't see why a touch ...

@ LilbroRx

If you have to ask, then you need to take a Marketing class because this is merely supply / demand. Since people are buying the Wii in bulk and the motion games are popular with casuals, thus other companies are trying to capture this market. This has nothing to do with Nintendo being ahead of the game, since part of the success had to do with it being an inferrer device. (Uses SD cards over HDD, SD graphics over HD, Can't play DVD's without hacking, most g...

When the gameboy originally released (used batteries / black screen / no backlit), Sega released the gamegear a year or two later, which featured color screen, backlit and had a rather large rechargeable battery add on (I don't recall such a thing on the Gameboy). It took NIntendo about 7 years to finally add Color to the gameboy and about 13 years to add back lit / rechargeable batteries. Sure we can get...

Well the article wants us to believe something impressive, but expresses it in the vaguest possible way.

What type of game did she make?
How well did it play?
Is it long?
Graphics?
etc...

I am not saying I am expecting a first grader to match Uncharted in any aspect, but there is a HUGE difference between making an extremely simple game like @SilentNegotiator keeps saying "Pong" and making something of a little more ...

I rather they unlocked out of game things, like WKC platinum gives you the White Knight armor and XIII gives you XMB themes.

Thats because you're taking a gross assumption and looking at the worst possible examples. A lot of games don't require every collectible and others have them in fairly obvious locations. A more common problem is SEEING the collectible, but not having a clue how to get it, over needing a guide to actually unlock it.

Again, this is another misconception. A lot of people think that there is someone bragging about every trophy, but it really boils down to what said user...

Why can't some series come to an end? Just because they CAN make another, does that mean we should always see another one? If anything I rather see one of the people in the "Bad" ending get their own game, than see another story with Cole, especially since his story is finished.

4914d ago 0 agree7 disagreeView comment

People hunt for them as something to do, which is nothing new. This is no different than MGS 4 having emblems (which later became trophies I guess) or a game having collectibles for art or items. People do them to prove they can, show their skill, get the most value out of the game or OCD.
Thats cool, but why do things have to conform to your desires? Trophies / Achievements don't take away from the actual game, so their existence isn't hurting you.
Then ignore them ...

"why are people hating on Sony for this? "

Demo isn't out in the US, most people read Sony as whatever region they're in, so they read it as if they're missing out. When it comes to things like this most people don't read the article and just comment, but in this case I don't really blame them. If I can freely download the demo off the PSN, what difference does it make if Sony Japan preinstalls it on a Vita? If you had interest you would downloa...

Couldn't find a good source? Just beat the DLC... the credits will list some Gearbox people and another developer.

They've been outsourcing the DLC, so you can still count on Gearbox, but I think their rep will take a BIG hit for this regardless.

Yes / No.

A lot of games include online passes (so there is a card there) and I've come across a few with advertisements in there. Not saying it makes up for the missing manual, but it does make the box feel less empty.

I thought the lack of PS3 support was a bigger sign. I mean who would expect another version of the game when we can't even get the DLC?

Because of good branding / popularity.

If you owned a MP3 player after the iPod, most people would call it an iPod, regardless of it being a walkman or Zune.
If you owned a smart phone prior to the touch craze, most people would call it a Black Berry and if it's a touch screen smart phone, then it would be called an iPhone by most.

This also appears in other areas, like band aids, so it's not unique to tech either. However, this is probably ...

What do you call the Nintendo DS?

What probably happened was someone thought it would be a good idea to apply the DS concept to the home console. I really don't think this idea is farfetched, though I am surprised it took someone 4 years to actually consider the idea.

In a lot of ways it still isn't relevant.

This generation we saw a lot of games fail to hit 1080 and even more fail to hit 1080P. Naturally next generation we will probably see 1080 become the new standard, which will give 4k time to become affordable. Even then it's hard to say if we will see a shift to 4k, since we have no clue how many companies will be able to afford / justify the increased costs for this tech.

Either or, we're looking at ab...

Well it does and it doesn't at the same time.

Whatever side you pick merely decides what ending you get (they're both the same with slight differences if I recall correctly), since you end up going through both sides in a playthrough.
