I, to, have a first-day/launch 60 gig. I'm 26% complete and haven't had a single freeze.
Wow - crazy thread. It appeared on my main page and by the time I clicked it it was Failed :)
If they make the case smaller and still have a huge power brick I will mock them without mercy!
Seriously, it would be better if they kept it the same size and integrated the power supply, but - if they are doing this - I would imagine they would rather just reduce the case for marketing reasons.
For realz - the current build is Pre-Alpha. Do they even have texture streaming in yet?
I think he'll say anything if he thinks people want to hear it. He was talking to Playstation Universe - what do you think he's going to say? "I don't really care for the Playstation?" - then every fanboy would crucify him on the internet any time there's something they don't like about a Playstation version of an EA Sports (or just EA in general) title. Does anyone really think he'd say the same to Xbox Universe (if that even exists)? I expect he'd say "I absolutely love the X...
Pshh - good luck MPAA. Whatevs.
I found "agile development" (Microsoft is the epitome of the opposite of agile) and "ASP.NET" (no offense to n4g devs intended) even funnier.
In case people don't know - they did bring back Electric Playground. It's online only - which is kinda weak, but it's something.

Meh, iPhone still looks cooler and is REAL.
Unless we assume that, by virtue of the fact that the developer released the demo, the developer thinks the demo is good - which seems like a pretty reasonable assumption to me. If they think the demo is good (and they should since they are trying to use it to sell the game) and it actually sucks then it stands to reason that they will think the game they release is good, but it will actually suck.
The PS1 had a 10 year lifespan (was manufactured for 10 years), and the PS2 is on track to do the same - so why shouldn't the PS3?
They will definitely need something larger than DVD. It seems like Blu-Ray will be the most logical choice for a console that will come out in the next 2-3 years, but you know the last thing Microsoft wants to do is pay royalties to Sony on their hardware.
They could always use HD-DVD, but then they lose out on the major value add of Blu-Ray playback.
Moderately off-topic: I think it would be great it flash memory got so cheap (and so large) that games could be on Ca...
I haven't had any problems either. I haven' tried online yet, but SP has been just fine.
If you haven't tried it delete your Game Data and reinstall.
Very Impressive. I hope they aren't taking dialogue cues from Gears though - a lot of random swearing in there.
I haven't seen any evidence that it's any more or less buggy than the 360 version. Neither version is so buggy that it ruins the game - the freezing stuff is a bummer, but it doesn't seem to be all that widespread (hasn't happened to me).
I don't want to start a flamewar or anything, but did you read that link you posted? It describes exactly what I was referring to and completely contradicts your "it was there for quality control only in coding" statement - "only" being the operative word here.
The Seal was meant to instill consumer confidence in games for the NES - confidence that had been eroded by the piles of crapware from the previous generation. It absolutely did not ONLY refer to coding...
I think Nintendo's biggest problem here is that they have for years and years invested far too little into internal development. If they don't take all that cash they are swimming in from the Wii and DS and invest it in expanding their studios then they are just plain dumb. They rely almost entirely on the creativity of one man, Miyamoto - which, considering Wii Fit, they may need to reevaluate in the near future.
I must respectfully disagree. Atari came out, video games blew up, then came mass amounts of shovel-ware, the industry crashed. With the NES Nintendo single-handedly revived home video gaming and the Seal of Quality was a big part of that - I believe it set the precedent for how things are done now where console makers have a say in what comes out for their product. Certainly the Seal is more symbolic than the licensing structure, but the idea itself was and is really important.
Hmm, pretty ghetto. Doesn't seem to have portable power supply - which kinds poo poos on the whole portability thing.
