I’m pretty sure I read somewhere that they’re selling it at cost price and not planning to make profit back.
Do you know how much R&D would have gone into developing this? And how expensive a Superbwol ad spot is? No way they’re making that back - this is for the people who need the controllers, not for MS
1 week exclusive = ‘big win’ apparently
I disagree, Metro series is great and this looks like a solid entry.
“It has a season pass btw”
Lol that came out of nowhere. Is that automatically a bad thing now? I can’t remember people whinging about the SpiderMan PS4 season pass, can you?
You know that hasn’t happened... right?
It’s a bad month for sure, it why unhappy about getting an OG Xbox game? OG had some great games, Jedi Academy included
“it was on same day 100k viewers behind fortnite ...i dunno where they get those numbers tho”
I don’t get it, are you saying you don’t believe that they hit the top?
“Are we really supposed to believe that Sea of Thieves is that popular naturally?”
Yes. Especially with all the updates they’ve been rolling out through 2018 that makes the game x20 more exciting than it was at launch.
You guys on this site are ridiculous - SoT comes out and you say it’s dead at launch. Game gets popular again later on and you say it’s paid advertising, because people apparently aren’t allowed to annoy the game without being a shill.
People on Twitch are playing it because the game is fun.
Twitch is more of a popularity gauge as well - and the fact that people claimed SoT was dead shortly after launch (and every month since) is why this is a talking point, because it shows the opposite
For Xbox, right?
I don’t think that accounts for people playing on PC, does it? I could be wrong though.
Which makes sense as I imagine a lot of Summit1G and Dr Disrespect’s fans primarily play on PC given that’s their platform of choice
There are some pretty strict rules around sponsored social media posts/streams - if this was paid for, we’d know about it.
Plus that’s ridiculous - people playing the game and having fun does not equal them being sponsored/paid to do so. And to suggest that is ridiculous. Is it so hard to believe that they’re playing because they’re having fun?
Spider-Man previously held the record for fastest selling exclusive of this generation. Super Smash Bros. Ultimate is now the fastest selling exclusive in *history*
This isn’t just beating ‘a game that released in September’, this is beating every other exclusive game that has ever come out
Didn’t SpiderMan break records for fastest selling exclusive of the generation when it came out? Where was this comment then?
Furthermore, this article is not only talking about how it’s not only beaten SpiderMan as the previous record holder, but Super Smash Bros. Ultimate is now the fastest selling exclusive in history - that’s ridiculously impressive. That beats the previous record holder Halo Reach from 2010.
To downplay that with “oh but SpiderMan ca...
Definitely two very similar games /s
Yeah I’m sure that MS is desperate enough to pay for the incredibly wide reach of keengamer.com /a
I don’t think Xbox can touch PlayStation at the moment, so at this stage next gen looks like another good one for PS - but just because some people believe the other way or want to have a discussion about it doesn’t mean they’ve been paid to
“Be a gamer not a fanboy!”
“Exactly! 100 agree... Competition is good, and I wish Microsoft was real competition for Sony“
I see your sentiment but I think you missed the point
As someone who doesn’t own - and isn’t interested in owning - a pc, it had games to me
Bad Company 2 remaster would be great, I would never play anything else.
And BF 5 is strange - the game itself is actually super fun, and has some of the best gunplay in the series, but it was marketed just terribly. The game isn’t like the reveal trailers at all
Yeah, I think people seem to think MS forced them to make Sea of Thieves. It was actually the other way around - Rare came up with the idea and had to convince MS.
Now I like Sea of Thieves, and I can see why some people don’t, but the devs over at Rare love it - this is the game they wanted to make
It's definitely been a good year for Sea of Thieves after the rocky launch they had.
2019 is looking good so far too!
Sometimes, though not always.
The bigger news is that it was Sea of Thieves’ fourth major update for the year, and arguably not the biggest either - it just introduced a lot of quality of life improvements that tied the previous updates together.
If users doubled after every other update in 2018 then yeah it wouldn’t be news, but this is the first time that it happened (and as in the article it’s continuing to increase into Jan/Feb)
