Final Fantasy is one of the best selling franchises ever, not to mention the countless number of games they could go back to and rehash a story. They are doing fine which will be shown when FF XIII is released.
As much as pro-HD-DVDers would like to think that $100 and $200 HD-DVD players are the norm the fact is that Toshiba took a HUGE loss on every single one of those. Not only that, there are only two other companies besides Toshiba and the 360 add on that even sell those players. Those players sold for $399 during the holidays. It was a last ditch effort that didn't help disc sales in comparison to BR. THAT is why Warner left and is why Universal and Paramount will follow.
You're telling me you would rather have 2 beta... I mean HD-DVD players than a PS3 that will allow you to play the exclusives you know you want along w/ most (any in < 1 yr) new HD movies? WTF is wrong w/ you?

My PS3 upconverts DVD's FAR better than my 360 and any non action movie I would rather get on DVD as seeing it in HD is nearly the same. A comedy is a comedy whether it's in HD or not (and 480p for $10 is a much better value IMO than 1080p for $30 which is why I have Superbad on DVD) Also, how can HD-DVD start to get better sales when 60% of the market is exclusive to blu? Single format means more people will be willing to upgrade which means more $$$ for players and more $$$ for discs.
with your logic is that all those sub $200 and $100 HD-DVD players were all sold FAR under cost and can't be sold for that little for longer than a single sale. Look at any non-Toshiba HD-DVD player. They are still in the $399 range and there are only 2 companies other than Toshiba making standalone players. IMO HD-DVD was going to 'consistently' sell at those prices roughly the same time that blu consistently were at that price.

Make games more like High Velocity Bowling, include them w/ the price of a console and market the $hit out of it. I have a bunch of friends that wanted a 360 for 'real' games, but the gf wanted the wii for wii bowling. I told them about HVB on the PS3 and they didn't even know that was a feature or a game on PS3. They are now considering just getting that. If they marketed that feature more PS3's would fly off the shelf IMO.
Unlike the 360 the PS3 caters to a wider audience than those that pick up every shooter that comes out on the system. What non-shooter game for the 360 has been at #1? Oblivion? Multi. AC? I don't think so, but also a multi. ME? Still shooter elements. Gears, COD, Halo, Bioshock, OB...

This is exactly what I was going to write. What bullsh!t journalism. They should have said standalone players, but that makes up for about 1/15th of all Blu-Ray players.
Even uninformed buyers are going to want to buy at least one HD-DVD w/ their new players. When they go over and see that there is 2-3x the selection of movies on blu they are going to (should) ask why. Depending on the store clerk they should get informed (maybe not, but who knows). Both are 3rd person shooters, both have a great cover system, both have good graphics, both came out in the 1st year of their console to show what the console can do. IMO Uncharted looks better and the AI is better, but overall the games are very similar in gameplay and effect it had on their respective system.
How about bigger maps than we've ever seen before? Maps that make Blood Gulch look tiny. You also forget, when you spawn in Resistance there is a small amount of time where you are invulnerable. I still can't wait for a 60 player FFA.
Just buy small yet powerful fan, put it near the fan intake and push the air through. I've been extremely scared of the RROD and since putting a fan blowing in the intake my 360 rarely gets hot.
Like Gears in 2006? Give me a break because look how similar the two situations are. Great graphics, great cover system, shooter, first real 'must have' on the system. Yeah, totally overrated.
But I really liked that game. I thought they pulled it off well and if you played it on hard it was REALLY hard.
