Like with all Nintendo consoles I really doubt the Switch will have legs. compared to the PS4.

For once, since the Gamecube, I'd like to see Nintendo put out a console where they can make their awesome games at the same technical quality of PS4 games. When the PS5 rolls around, Switch games (which already look outdated) will look ancient.

I think what a lot of you are missing is that not all games make a profit or even break even. Micro transactions are an insurance, as it makes the losses more bearable.

With that said, of course there are greedy companies that go above and beyond to make as much money as possible on the expense of players. It's just, like most things in life, not a black or white issues but rather a grey one.

You can show an alternate time line and still show respect to what inspired it. Wolfenstein isn't really over the top, like the first reboot in the series was. It tells a very serious story with a lot of grounded messages both in the small sense (family, friends) and large (what ww2 did to people, how it made a lot of people act).

People seem to forget that all that hatred towards non-whites were not constrained to Germany. It sparked ethnicity based hatred in many cou...

Cloud power will probably one day become a reality, but the last few years it's just been MS talk without anything really revolutionary to show for it. Show us your revolutionary games, then people will appreciate these things. It's still just talk and Sea of Thieves doesn't change anything.

There are obvious problems with Crackdown or it would have been out a pretty long time ago. To me, deliver first, brag later.

Got it day one, one of the best "arcadey" shooters in years. It was pure fun and didn't pretend to be anything it wasn't. One of the best reboots in a franchise ever.

Is it just me or is it weird how often Shannon brings up how much she and Balrog has butted heads? I've seen/read her say it at least 6 times, but of course always with the twist of "it's worth it in the end".

I kind of feel the Switch is in its own market. Like the Wii, I wouldn't be surprised if it burned bright but half as long as compared to the PS4. I would be very surprised if there wasn't a PS5, and at that point that's what most PS4/X1 owners will want. I hope Microsoft stays in the console business with a proper next generation and doesn't think that this incremental upgrades is the way forward.

Gaming press isn't just promotion for games (although that's what 99% of all sites amount to). Certain studios have horrible work conditions, Amy Hennig have commented on it and it's rampant in the industry. Very few places to work at that really treats you well.

I've worked at several developers and unfortunately this is the norm. Perhaps not the sexual/homophobic aspects that are being reported QD, but it's not a healthy environment to work in. People come into the industry with great passion, often willingly do 60-80 hours a week (and up to 90-100 in crunch) but then you get older and you want to have a life outside of game development. When you're at that point, you basically have no choice. Work the hours. After all the years of worki...

Latest update is amazing. Having said that, I don't believe in games that rely completely on internet connections. The Crew and The Division comes to mind, games I loved but was frustrating whenever the servers were down or updating. I'll get The Crew 2 but I won't like that aspect of it.

It's a bit extreme to criticize it to the point that Kurt did though.

If movies and books can show it, games should too. It does put a lot of weight on the writer/developer to execute right, just as it did with psychosis for Ninja Theory (and they got mostly positive feedback due to their approach and research). I "am" (I consider myself "was", even though it's undoubtedly shaped me) a victim and I have no issue with this. I do understand people who are nervous about this, and I am not sure showing it off at a big press conference was th...

If you got other games to play, fair enough, but ACO is a lot of fun, beautiful and I haven't encountered any bugs. It's pretty incredible how huge it is, and the lands aren't empty either. Every area is really nice (even if some places stand out a bit more than others).

Can't be right.

A (2017) There's open world fatigue.

B (2014-2016) Single player games aren't profitable.

C (2012) All games will become open world

D (2010) Console games are dead, mobile games are taking over. Etc. etc.

Since these "predictions":

A FFXV, then Zelda, then Horizon, then Shadow of Mordor, then Assassin's Creed have all sold very well.i...

Why is XMessiah23x's post so upvoted? You don't think people can be sexually harassed on Twitter? You don't think in todays climate that coming out as a woman takes courage? It's getting better, but certainly not because of comments like XMessiah23x's.

Does this represent the N4G community? I certainly hope it doesn't represent the majority of gamers.

Are you all sheep or have you actually played the latest iteration of the game (or seen extensive footage of it)? I hate P2W, but I have nothing against cosmetic upgrades that are funded by MT. I played Shadow of War and enjoyed it, didn't spend a cent. Been playing ACO and it's awesome, haven't spent a cent. Of course MP is different, but I've had plenty of fun with SW BF2.

I know I'm going to get downvoted for this but I've really seen through my l...

@mcstorm You don't understand game development. If a developer has to continuously support older machines with their titles, that means they can't afford to design to the new target specs.

There are techniques that will change gameplay that are not possible on current systems. Each proper generation provide a leap that you may not understand.

Imagine when expansive dynamics systems are capable of running in real-time such as large scale fluid and ...

Really not sure why Sony didn't do this with the PS4 Pro. I have a 1440p monitor, and I can definitely tell a difference when I run PC games in 1080p vs 1440p. My main reasons for getting an XB1X were I wanted games that are console exclusive (don't come out on PC) like when FFXV hadn't been announced for PC, Kingdom Hearts etc. as well as having an UHD Bluray player. I really like the PS4 Pro, but I don't think there's any denying that the XB1X is more powerful (I've ...

So Doom didn't make a lot of money? (sarcasm)

Let's see how well Wolfenstein 2 does, I bet it will do a lot better than the first one.

I've seen "death to [insert genre here]" more times than I can remember. Mobile gaming didn't destroy console gaming, death of triple A games hasn't happened, single player games are still successful and will still exist because the market is dictated by what people want, not what developers/...

Publishers that still do single player (successfully): Ubisoft, Square Enix, Sony and all its first party studios, Nintendo and their inhouse studios, Bethesda, shit even Microsoft.

Titles that have done well financially and critically in the last couple of years that are SP: Witcher 3, Uncharted 4, Doom, Dark Souls III, Horizon Zero Dawn, Forza 6+Horizon, Resident Evil 7, Zelda, Final Fantasy XV (you could argue that this is a GaaS but I played it for its SP content and I ...

How can anyone of you know for a fact that they did have a choice to when to release it? You think they had unlimited funds? Don't judge unless you truly were in their shoes.

Seems to me they are doing a lot of things to set things right, and I admire that they don't try to hype anything up but just quietly work away and then release this massive free update that appears to be one of several as multiplayer is stated to become more fleshed out.
