Yeah. I misread the article. Didn't have enough time to edit it. I apologize for jumping to conclusions.
Weren't the developers saying it was going to be 15 or so hours? Either, way, length is pretty subjective. I doubt it will even take me that long
I knew that insider" who claimed TLOU sold 1.5 million copies in the first 24 hours was full of crap. Yet everyone took his word for it, without getting any facts. It hasn't even sold 50K copies and it had no competition whatsoever.
Maybe this will tell developers to stop re releasing games that are barely a year old.
How did this mediocre game get a sequel?
I don't see how withholding 80% of their fanbase from their game at launch is a good business strategy for the franchises success.
It literally doesn't make any sense.
This seeems more like an angry forum post from a 10 year old COD player than a "professional" opinion from a skilled writer. Is this what qualifies as journalism these days? I know EGMR isn't known for their journalistic entegrity, but this is just a new level of insulting.
There are other ways to get your point across without sounding like a edgy pre teen who just learned how to use the internet for the first time.
I'm more offended by how ...
Umm.. Don't you mean it "looks fun to play, but is it fun to watch?"
Such laziness.
A bad business practice doesn't automatically become good if Sony's involved. If that were the case, we'd see a bunchof articles praising Playstation Now's pricing structure, just because it's Sony, which is the exact opposite of what I see posted here everyday. Saying, "everyone would praise Sony if they were doing this" is a complete fallacy.
Tomb Raider 2 was released on PC and PsOne.
Except Xbox One and PC fans would be just as outraged if this were a PS4 exclusive. Stop being a hypocrite. You're missing the point. This isn't about fanboys being angry about not getting exclusive rights. It's about third party developers screwing over their core audience by withholding established franchises from them. That is a major problem worthy of discussion, regardless of which system it's being released on.
More misinformed click bait garbage defending this nonsense. Tomb Raider did not meet Squares expectations on the 360, and it sold poorly on Xbox One compared to PS4. In what way does making this an Xbox exclusive, make any type of sense.
Most of these games can be purchased under 10 dollars at Gamestop. $2.00 for 4 hours is still way too expensive.
I love how the majority of criticism for EA Access comes from pure speculation as to how they MIGHT mess it up. It's like no one can accept the fact that EA actually made a halfway decent business decision so they need to come up with baseless conspiracy theories for nonexistent policies.
But these same people defend Playstation Now's ridiculous pricing model by saying they MIGHT lower the prices. Hell, if Sony implemented the exact same subscription model for their f...
Yes, we would be having this discussion. This isn't about fanboys arguing about console exclusivity. This is about publishers alienating their core audience by withholding games from the people who take up most of their sales. If Bioware for example, announced Mass Effect 4 as a PS4 exclusive, with no mention of other consoles, you'd hear just as much outrage from the Xbox and PC community.
Of course the outcry wouldn't be as bad. The original sold more copies on PS4 so it would actually make sense from a business standpoint. But Sony wouldn't even need to pay Square to make it exclusive, since they already have Uncharted.
I don't understand the logic behind a company who constantly complains about games not meeting their expectations even if they sell well, would want to take a third party game of an established franchise and make it exclusive to a system that is not selling well. Even if it's timed. Not only does it put the future of the franchise in jeopardy. But it's a complete stab in the back to the people who made the series popular in the first place.
Paying for exclusive c...
I love how the author didn't even mention the next Tomb Raider being a timed exclusive for Microsoft, when it was literally the biggest surprise out of the whole event. It's like he just slapped the some random thoughts together while the event was going on and didn't even bother to finish watching it.
More pretentious click bait garbage from newbie journalists who think their biased opinions are facts. Move along. Nothing else to see here.
Can't wait for the Rise of the Tomb Raider "definitive edition" for PS4 in 2016.
But in all seriousness, this is a terrible business move for Square Enix. Even if it is just a timed exclusive.
So Far Cry 4, AC Unity, The Evil Within, Dragon Age etc are indie games?
