They do not lose money, because those who pirated it wouldn't buy it, if piracy was no option.
Yeah, they might add DRM, and yeah, their piracy rate might go down. But their sales figure won't go up. Less pirates is not equivalent to more sales.
Actually, all men want to have sex with other women besides their own.
They are not his real private bits, they are just a bunch of polygons. This is a ridiculous story.
Yeah, I'd really like to know where the console fanboys' financial arguments come from. You CAN of course build a 5000$ PC, but it will maybe be 20% better than a well-constructed 500$ PC. So it's not really recommended to shell out thousands of bucks.
Heh, not for PC-Gamers, but you know, console gamers are another breed...
Darkseider: Only your last point is valid. PC gaming is NOT more expensive than console gaming (if you already have a PC, you only need a graphics card and maybe a sound card, which are combined still cheaper than a console). Also, you can play PC games from the couch, if you feel like it (or install an overhead beamer, whatever). The beer is possible, too!
They don't pay thousands of dollars. If you already own a pc (most people do) it's cheaper than a console to transform it into a gaming machine.
The PC market for MMORPGs is big enough to justify an exclusive title. Also, a Star Wars MMORPG doesn't directly compete with WoW, because of the different setting and the Star Wars franchise. I can see many WoW-Players also playing a Star Wars MMORPG.
@ PikkonX: While the technical limits are theoretically broken, you have to ask: how many console gamers own a keyboard/mouse, and how well would a game that REQUIRES them be accepted on the console market?
The answers on these questions were probably the reason why it's PC-only. I guess it works the same way with some gamepad-optimized titles that don't get ported to PC.
Please explain how the quality of a PC game is raised when it is also released for X-Box 360 and PS3. Also, I'd like your explanation to be followed by real examples.
I give you two exaples where the quality of a game has suffered, because it was also developped for consoles:
- Assassin's Creed
- Far Cry 2
Also, the controls of dead space pc are crap. Another lousy console port.
Well, do you have a keyboard and a mouse? Because if not, the game will never be as good on your console as it is on PC. Oh, wait, but then it will be too easy, because console FPS games difficulty settings are optimised for clunky controller input.
Realistic games tend to exclude medics, because, let's be honest, what can you do against bullet wounds that matters during a mission? In reality, patients of battle medics don't fight again for a LONG time, if ever.
Two Worlds didn't produce a lot of hype. Also, I think it was pretty solid. Same thing with Prey, there was a little more hype than with Two Worlds, but not a lot. And that game, too, was solid. Not awesome, far from that, but also not bad at all.
@ Failstation3: The number 1 franchise in gaming is "The Sims".
@ ReBurn: The game would sell bad on the PC, true, and LucasArts would probably accuse piracy for that, but actually, it is because PC gamers are better informed than console gamers and don't buy that much crap.
Why buy Vista, when you already have a faster and more reliable OS that you are already familiar with?
You seem to have a strange understanding of economy. If noone buys the stuff anymore, it won't be produced anymore.
