They're going to build a fort?
I've actually had my eye on this one. been patiently waiting on release.
Some of what you say is truth, but I'd advise against a call for people to recognize the truth right after a sentence where you bring up rumors.
Every time they said "the world's first true 4K machine."
EDIT: just to add 60 frames per second you're right on. MS never claimed that one.
Oh I'm not the market. I have a PC already, so xbox is pretty redundant outside of sunset overdrive for me. But as I said above, this is meant for people looking to upgrade. This comment is more a "don't expect it to sell gangbusters." I'm sure it'll move quite a few units, help xbox take a few NPDs even, but I don't see the masses gravitating to xbox because of it.
Agreed. I think the real question is there enough demand in the market for it. But as for value of the hardware, this one is a heck of a deal.
I don't think this is meant for people just now deciding which console to buy. I don't think there's many more of those people left. I think this is meant for current xbox 1 owners looking to upgrade, much like the pro.
From their point of view, yes it is. I'm sure they're taking a loss on it. But from the market's point of view, I think it needed to be $400ish to make the needle move. but we'll see.
Kionic, they said it was a true 4k machine and they said it was up to developers. That's talking out of both sides of their mouth. you can ignore the true 4k comments they relentlessly pushed, but the fact remains... You know what? here. Straight from albert panello:
“I think there are a lot of caveats they’re giving customers right now around 4K. They’re talking about checkerboard rendering and up-scaling and things like that. There are just a lot of asterisks in their mark...
I'm not saying he's holding xbox back. I'm saying the attitude of praising xbox no matter what is holding xbox back. Personally I believe Phil is doing the best he can but he has people he has to answer to that want to see xbox go a certain direction, and without the pressure from Xbox's most ardent fans pushing for new ip and single player focused titles, he can't really do much to push back against his marching orders. Granted it doesn't help that a lot of Xbox...
This is all subjective but...
Nintendo for me. They needed to convince me to buy a switch, and they made pretty big progress towards that. not there yet, but they made big strides. I just need to see one more game I can't play else where and more of Metroid.
MS needed to convince me to buy an X1X. and they really had no chance of doing so since I have a PC.
Sony needed to convince me to buy more games, and since they showed the same games as last year... I m...
To quote Phil Spencer: "we play games, not resolution."
Good for you writer. It's actually a must buy for me now.
better to vote with your wallet and speak up on the twitters. Personally, if I was on social media I'd be tweeting at Phil and saying words aren't enough, we need games. He needs his feet held to the fire by xbox fans. That's how xbox will get games. What PS fans say won't matter nearly as much to him because he can tell himself they won't buy an xbox anyway.
60 million PS4s sold and almost 4 years in. He needs to make a case for xbox as a secondary console...
Honest question. Don't you think it's that attitude that holds xbox back? If their most ardent supporters keep telling them, "great job, keep it up". Why bother putting in the effort and taking risks?
Let me put it this way, if your wife is going in for a job interview and decides to wear T-shirt and jeans, do you tell her she looks great? or do you speak up and tell her to dress up more? I mean as you said, it's not just Sony fans that have a bad taste ...
@Xb1PS4, Well he did say "focus". I don't think he was calling for an end to anything 4K in console gaming.
But I'm guessing the context of your reply was E3. in which case I agree with you. E3 is a showcase for the enthusiasts, not the casuals. When you look at how the Pro (no examples of scorpio yet) is being marketed, it's like an after thought as the focus is on the base PS4. the enthusiasts already know about the Pro, and that's the Pro's audie...
@ septic and lex. and MP is fine for repetitive team death match. Me? I want a good story, interesting characters, experiences that stay with me long after I play the game. it's much more rewarding that "Dude I just shot you in the nuts like a boss!".
You guys keep following MS down the MP is king path. that's where the bulk of all the microtransaction and season pass abuse is coming from. I've even started to see some xbox fanboys on here defending microt...
Doesn't matter. their fanboys will defend them no matter what. Flat out lied to and they still see MS as doing no wrong.
@ LEX, so we're back to this. remember when you said scorpio will be more powerful so sony fans are backpedaling? Well no, we corrected you by saying it wasn't all about power. It was PS4 was more powerful than X1 for $100 less. It wasn't power, it was value proposition.
And now here we are again and I'm telling you it's not about scorpio being more powerful it's about MS promising a "true 4K" machine and not delivering, then blaiming it on the...
few exclusives? lol.
Also real gamers don't sit and talk bad about other consoles yet just before that you talk about Sony being in a bad spot, downplay their first 3 years (wasn't near empty, still had way more games than X1) and even now you say they just have a "few" more exclusives.
But anyway, Sony isn't in a tough spot. They have more than double the sales of their closest competitor. they can drop their price at any time. And you're still ...
