ps4, xbox720 and Wii U all need the following to be relevent;
1080p MINIMUM native resolution for ALL titles, no game will even be considered if it is even a fraction less
4x anti aliasing MINIMUM
4gb Ram
1gb vram
V-Sync on ALWAYS = no screen tear
No horrible pop-in amature-ass looking shit, your game will instantly be rejected until you fix it
No awful jagged and agita...
i would say only 70% of console games are 720p, the rest are sub-hd
all call of duty console games are 1024x600p
all halo games 1120x640p
alan wake 960x540
many, many console games are 1024x640
or 975x576
all kinds of weird sub-hd resolutions
the new red faction game is way sub hd, also 540p like alan wake
so 70% at 720p is probably being too generous
Dice should be commended for what they have achieved, i thought the ps3 footage on jimmy fallon looked incredible!
The tech they are using is nearing 6 years old in the ps3 and they have made a game that looks head and shoulders above any other shooter available on console to this day....couple that with tanks, heli's, jets and full destruction....damn...
all these console players that are so very concerned with tech specs really, REALLY need to look ...
it will be $400-$500 USD I am guessing
and if it has at least one metroid, castlevania or hardcore and visually stunning zelda game, plus, MANDATORY native 1080p for every game with at least 4x anti aliasing, I will buy it the day it comes out!

console players that are so concerned with tech specs need to graduate up to pc where you have control over your game....
choose you own resolution, framerates can be locked in with v-sync, choose how much anti aliasing you want, filtering, bloom and hdr levels (this is huge for me as i often drop the bloom down when games are OVERSATURATED in it i hate that)

visually, the first sniper ghost warrior on PC DESTROYED any call of duty game, also laying a firm smackdown on any console game ever made, sadly, the game was a 7 at best, cluncky story, bad ai, some great ideas though, multiplayer was actually fun and a very hard ass game for me, i never put more than 6 hours in the MP so I'm sure that is why I got owned the whole time!
I think this one will be a visual treat on pc, easily decimateing the visuals of call of duty mw3, but ...

or you could just get 90% of every ps2, gamecube, n64, ds, gba, ps1, super nintendo, genisis and more HD REMAKES you want are available on PC with emulators, and if you have ever owned any of these game it is not illegal for you to grab a free emulator and play till your hearts content,
and they will be real hd 1080p instead of sony's 720p

my ps3 was impressive in 2006
i still play my consoles for exclusives, just rented infamous 2(wil be playing tonight) but....
the only thing impressing me anymore is on pc, it's just a fact!
The ps3 and 360 got owned in 2007 with crysis and have never caught up
since then we have seen things like stalker CoP and stalker CS, rift, the witcher 2, bf3, bfbc2 dx11, metro203...
Besides a bit of screen tearing and jaggies on some of the fine lines, i thought it looked freaking incredible for a platform that has 6 year old hardware in it, DICE are freaking wizards!

i hope they drop the 720 this holiday 2011, I know it will not happen, but that would be so badass, I know it's gonna be 2012 when the new xbox releases, but I would love to pick one up this november......
well it really comes down to what systems you have....
but.... if you have even a mediocre pc in your house with a good dual core cpu and 4gb ram, do yourself a favor, pick up a $100-$300 gpu and say goodbye to console gaming except for the really good exclusives like i did years ago...
i still have my consoles and love them,i am loving infamous 2 right now, but if it was on pc, that's where i'd be playing it.
