the ps4 and xbox 720 will be on par with a mid-high spec pc of right now
meaning the ps4/nextobx will do 1080p, 4x anti aliasing and 30-60 frames per second in high quality AAA games featuring dx11
don't expect much more and you will be happy
as long as those tech specs are met and the great franchises from both camps are there (halo, resistance, gears, god of war, demons souls, killzone, fable) I will be there with my money for MS and Sony!

steam has way more users,
30-40 million real people have steam, only 20-25 million xbox live accounts, and before you say it, yes some of those steam accounts are double accounts, but i know of lots of households with multiple live accounts on one xbox360 for siblings!
most steam users have more money than most console players, they are pc gamers after all.

street fighter 4 on pc looked so, so much better than the console versions, i picked it up for $15 on steam along with resident evil 5 for $15
both games make the console versions look 5 years old and sub-hd
granted, i'm sure it (SF4) was pirated to hell because pc gamers don't really play fighting games, i just used my 360 controller on pc, works like a champ and looks and runs, ohhh so much better
i only played it for an hour or two...
Bethesda had every intention of waiting until next gen for Skyrim, but the next gen was not coming, all along they were developing the pc version assuming new console hardware would be out by 2011, but, no new console hardware guess what.......
release it on last gen consoles at a reduced resolution,let it have all the pop-in, muddy low res textures of oblivion, so all you kids that never want the ps3 and 360 to go away......hurray for you, now you get to play skyrim in its W...

the xbox360 really does not need hdmi either, since all of its games are 720p or less, except for a few crappy indie-flash type games, and same with the ps3, except it does have 1080p bluray playback
