darth72 - Sony is taking all next gen, no mucking around. The SSD is nearly twice as fast - that's a difference worth highlighting.

Remember your comment come launch time. You're in for a real surprise.

But Sony has the better games, PS5 will be twice as fast at getting stuff on the screen - that surely makes up for any arbitrary difference in a tflop count.

Most of the decent studios ms acquired had already been making exclusively for xbox. The other are AA at best.

PS5 will have exclusives day 1 from 1st larty studios without it's baby brother screaming me to, me to. ms has crippled any performance gain of xsx by lugging the inferior xone/x into t...

If you have great speakers PS5 will sound amazing through them - how can you not understand that? DOLBY ATMOS is licensed tech, sound engineers can create their own discrete audio now. That's a huge win.

And the sound out of crappy speakers will also be great.

We all hear differently - and PS5 can accommodate people unique ears, that's the point he was making.

And what is the tflop difference between those 2 consoles?

Like many others - you're in for a shock come launch time.

Sitdown - No - it was a major release for ms, but it came and went without so much as a whimper.

Still a showcase for ms.

Tommy - There's another lesbian Zombie game? /s

Don't be ridiculous- TLOU2 will be a fantastic game in all regards. And it shows that PS4Pro can still outclass a console that is - significantly -more powerful than it.

What's the tflop difference between PS4Pro and xonex?

crazycoconuts - I'd back Mark's breakdown of why one is better than the other. He's not a hyperbolic individual, very understated and straight forward.

And the headline of this article is arse about I reckon. Clock speeds are one thing but accessing, reading and pulling the information from the SSD is where the speed is.

Seems pcgamer can't get there head around a different solution to the same problem.

I love audio as much as I love visuals - this is a huge step up. Anyone that doesn't have a decent setup is in for a real treat, and people who have a decent set up will be even more impressed.

I can see that - not sure if they'll be officially licensed by ms though, it will be taking money from them. That's the point of proprietary hardware - it forces people to buy it.

I can see the ms solution being cheaper out of the gate - at least it should be - but once (compatible) PCI-E 4.0 NVMe drives have on the market for a while, I'm sure the prices will drop well below what ms is offering.

Kubark - The takeaway from the GodFall announcement is that it is the first 3rd party console exclusive - and they chose PS5. That's huge mate.

Sony has the best games, the best looking games and the best roadmap for future releases. Do you think PS5 will be any different?

12 tflops is not the be all end all - you need to get over that number, it will serve you well going forward.

But Sony can also nearly double the amount of data transferred each second with it's SSD solution.

That can't be overlooked, and Ms won't be taking full advantage of its SSD until it stops support for hardware that doesn't have the SSD controllers needed to be used effectively.

It's going to be very interesting when both companies actually launch titles running their respective consoles.

My money is on Sony, they...

All that is true - but do you really Sony has shown it's full hand? I think the actual console reveal is going to be a huge success with top tier games shown, studio acquisitions announced and a price that is too good to pass up.

Sony also has the best - significantly mind you - way of getting the info around the system, their bandwidth and speed obliterates the ms SSD. That's where the difference will be.

We'll just have to wait and see how the games look. Spec sheets is one thing but it's the games that matter - good thing Sony has the best 1st party studios.

2275d ago 3 agree5 disagreeView comment

When has Sony ever had the shittier looking games? haha

I'll give you all an AA for effort, in honour of ms 1st party studios.

Wake up buddy - Sony will continue to dominate and have the best looking games.

Mark explained the thermal issue in the video, everything will be running at full speed so the heat build is a known value - not a variable.

Also I don't think by design SSD's don't cause more heat in a system than a large HDD.

He also said quite confidently - I think you'll like the solution the engineers have come up with.

Please go and watch the breakdown on DF video, as hard as Mark tried it just went over some people's head.

You'll hear that tflops is not an accurate metric to compare power. You'll hear Mark say that the 36 CU's is easier optimise.

I'm no expert, and most on N4G aren't - its probably time to listen to experts.

You do realise that most of next gen is tied to SSD's right? And ms is going to have games run on hardware with significantly less bandwidth.

Point being you won't see the full potential of xsx for at least 2 years.

SONY first party PS5 games are built for PS5.

There's going to be lots of humble pie being served around launch.

Go and watch the DF video - they seem very excited with PS5. It's a different way of getting to the same result.

I think people are in for a shock when both consoles release.

2275d ago 9 agree11 disagreeView comment

Thats exactly where matter - you'll get MUCH better audio from sources you normally wouldn't. Your TV, soundbar, Home Theatre will never have sounded so good.

As much as Mark tried to explain the tech - I think most of it went over peoples head.
