LOL, the Fiddler method is the one I ended up using, after fully downloading GOW4 like 7 times, over 500 GB of data. It's absurd that they Windows Store can actually be this bad still. The Fiddler method is only grabbing the same exact URL the Store uses, so the same game package file, and then you use powershell to manaully install it with an "add-appxpackage" command line. Why would the Store fail so many times with the same download/install when the Fiddler method works 1st t...
They should take a page out of Overwatch's book with the quality and earning rate of loot boxes. You get a loot box with 4 items every single level up. You earn a more decent amount of coins also, and you can unlock any of the items you want, rather than relying on a crappy random roll. Gears 4's economy system is a complete scam and pretty disgusting. It clearly isn't some calculated mistake that they thought was fair, and the slight adjustments they've done so far haven'...
No UWP games have been pirated to my knowledge.
Gears 4 is great on PC, the Windows Store is cancer though. Too many people, including me, had to download the full 73.33GB game like over half a dozen times, because the Windows Store doesn't know how to figure out downloading/installing of it's own apps/games. I ended up having to use a program called "Fiddler" to see the URL the Windows Store uses for the game download and copy the URL link into Chrome and download the game package to my downloads. Then running a manual i...
After it failing on me at the end of the 73.33GB download like 7 times over the first 3 days of pre-load, this is the guide that worked for me: https://www.reddit.com/r/ha...
It involves using an app that grabs the URL link the Windows Store uses to download the game package, then you paste that link in your web browser, and download the game file to y...
I got lucky. I had the Standard Edition pre-ordered and preloaded on Win 10(After days of nightmares with the crap-@ss Windows Store, to where I had to use an app to get the URL link for the download and download the game package through Chrome and manually install). After all that, I was just happy it was pre-loaded properly, and I was ready for the heartache of waiting that last 4 days, while tons of people played and uploaded vids, etc.
Then the Xbox Twitch Stream went o...
Finally, I can actually play it tomorrow night! I had the Standard Edition pre-loaded on PC, which doesn't launch until Tuesday, 12am. I went into the Xbox Twitch Stream tonight where they were giving away 90 Ultimate Edition codes. I thought it'd all be raffle style, and near impossible to win. The first 60 were actually thrown onscreen every minute, they would disappear really quickly, lol, which pissed off the majority of the Twitch chat, because almost no one could type that fast....
Dang, I was expecting it to be meh, that's pretty impressive though.
@brich233
Yeah, I had the update before my first attempt. The GOW forums and neogaf 'n many other show a large amount of people having the issue still. There are a few fixes out that should work, some had to do with updating Windows OS, basically installing it over, which I wasn't willing to do. So, I used the easier fix I listed. I'm trying to help a few other on the forums that have downloaded more than once just to get the error code, then a reset of the download.
@BlackTar187
You took the words right out of my mouth.
Just be ready to possibly have to contact Nvidia support afterwards at some point with proof of purchase. They have been revoking codes because of the Amazon Glitch people used to get tons of codes. I had bought one beforehand, on Sep. 22 and it was redeemed at Nvidia and went through to my Microsoft Account, showing I owned the game, but it was revoked behind the scenes. The Windows Store is just too crappy to clearly let you know this. So, I had to request a refund from the ebay seller, tha...
Considering the new Titan X Pascal 12GB $1600 can barely manage 4K/60 for a few games, and will quickly drop below with newer games on highest settings, it makes sense to target 1080p/60 as the primary goal.
If you have issues after downloading, where it gives an error then zeros out and starts back from scratch, this is a life saver - https://www.reddit.com/r/ha...
For the last 4 days I've been redownloading the full game, up to like 600GB worth of GOW4, and it always would go to the end and error code into a reset download. Many people have been havi...
@opinionated
I'm not into the whole platform wars thing, so you can save that talk. I'm just saying, anyone that figured out that Amazon glitch, whether on PC or X1, would have used it and been selling them on ebay, and X1 and PC gamers would have both been buying the codes on ebay. It sounds to me like you're the one doing a whole lot of crying, super defensively. Oh and, I got something that'll carry you on it's back, righchea swangin'.
This doesn't make sense, because that digital code works for PC and X1. So people across platforms would have been trying to get them for those cheap prices.
You gotta try harder than that. The Windows Store is an abomination. You are comparing Steam to it? While putting Steam more in the negative light? LMFAO, What bizarro world do you live in?
LOL, the update sucks, and doesn't help at all with Gears of War 4. I've downloaded GOW4 like 7 times now, just for it to fully download and go straight to an error code and start back from 0 automatically. What a crap store. That's over like 500GB, half a TB I've downloaded in less than 3 days, just of GOW4. What type of dev team does MS have working on this store? Seriously.
LOL, they need a proper knockoff that is <$75. That thing is ridiculously overpriced.
I got it from ebay for $39.00 a week ago or so, before the whole craziness went down with the super low prices and Nvidia locking the codes off because of the Amazon glitch. I linked a friend to it before it went down, they got it for $29.00. I saw it go as low as $18.00 before everything blew up.
Well, Overwatch's method still murders Gears of War 4, and show how bad it is if you think OW is stingy. I played Garden Warfare 1, and it was pretty fair, never played 2 though.
