Gears 4 let you earn Credits through gameplay to get the cool skins from Gear Packs. You could optionally buy packs, and they had the Esports stuff for $-only. Gears 5 puts all the cool skins behind the $-only Iron paywall.

It's not cool, especially when they were trying to get props for "paving the way in the gaming industry by moving away from loot boxes". LoL, such BS.

The dev team needs to learn how to do basic coding, before nickel and ...

I didn't play much Gears 4 campaign, I'm mainly a VS player. I got a friend to try Gears 5 though, cuz the GPU for $2/2mo. We're on Ch4 of Act 1, it's good so far. I'm very optimistic about what the Map Builder can evolve to in the near future, and am patiently waiting for them to add VS map making to it.

My only issue, which was a huge problem with Gears 4 in general also, is that the technical code team at The Coalition doesn't seem to be too up to...

Yea, I'm on PC, and hate the Windows Store, but I'll use the $2/2mo Game Pass Ultimate to play early and secure all the Gears 5:UE stuff like the Halo and Terminator characters and 30 day boost. Then when it runs out, I'll buy the Standard Edition on Steam.

Campaign might be alright this time, and Escape is decent looking. Horde still has some issues from GOW4, like the repetitive waves, and the same character cloned with a different weapon, like all the Scions....

Yea, there's like one other person that ever smoked, other than the new character in Gears 5. The little bit they ever really showed of smoking was in the comics and stuff.

Yea, Gears 4 launched at just over 73GB, and is now about 135GB. A big part of 5 being less is the better compression, and they separated the Ultra texture pack (4k) and made it a separate download. If you want that, it puts it at 100GB at launch.

Visual style looks like a copy of Hyper Light Drifter.

As long as the microtransactions are just cosmetic, it's fine. I'm just surprised they actually are moving away from season passes, and finally doing free maps, to not segregate the playerbase. As long as they don't renege on full dedicated servers, that'll be great too, considering they'll be at least 60hz tickrate servers.

I might actually get this, it'll be cool to be able to sit back and play on controller on PC, and not have to worry about getti...

Mouse & Keyboard support is on the Xbox version.

Dunno, might have to wait to see if Nvidia can get really good Game Ready drivers for it. I've seen benchmarks on 2080Tis getting the same FPS as 1070s. Also, the Gears 4 hard-freeze BSOD issue was present in the Gears 5 Tech Test, so unless they get that sorted, I feel bad for them on Steam reviews once it releases.

Nvidia fixed the hard-freeze once for them in mid-2017 with driver 382.53, but MS screwed it right back up with all the Anniversary Update, Falls Creators ...

I still feel the gnasher fights seemed close to Core weapon tunings a bit, but others are saying no. Please, let it be more balanced towards Competitive.

I hope they give some Steam info soon, there's basically zero advertisement or info on the Steam version. It's starting to get annoying now, with no ability to even pre-order there yet, just still says "Coming Soon".

Uhm, that was just a clip of ELEAGUE playing Escalation, no trailer for Boot Camp.

How ironic, the article page has a popup asking you to subscribe.

You prolly have torrent software running right now, downloading something. Just stop.

I really hope the map builder is decently flexible, and not like just putting together some basic jigsaw puzzle pieces with a very limited # of objects on a set background. Hopefully they show it off soon. They already announced on reddit it'll eventually be coming to Horde and Multiplayer, just not at launch.

LOL, yea, I thought the price was regularly $50, and deals are usually $25-$35, did greedy Sony up it?

I thought that AI would keep advancing and be at a better place by now. It seems it's not really moved along that much in general though.

I'd say the open-world sandbox concept has been evolving to include everything(Shooter, RPG, Action, Strategy, Stealth).

Superman 64 could possibly be the worst game I ever played. It didn't make sense why most of the game you're just flying through rings. LMAO, you're being timed while flying through rings, over and over and over again. There's no plot, nothing going on, just flying through rings and occasionally lifting up a car. A truly horrible game, and without a doubt the worst Superman game ever unleashed on the gaming public.

They always do stuff like this though. Like how they usually start off with hybrid dedicated servers, then rapidly drop off after a few months, and the lag and disconnects start back. It's the usual corporate greed, saving $.
