Nothing exists in a vacuum.

It's entirely possible that playing GTA:V served as a trigger to send this mentally unstable person over the edge. As an adult human being, you have to accept that violent media can and will have real-life consequences. Grand Theft Auto V is a very violent game, and its interactive nature exacerbates its effect on us.

The point here is to recognize that violent media--and, to a greater extent, the culture of violence that exist...

My indie platform of choice is the PC, for obvious reasons.

I have a hard time believing that. I played the demo twice, and both times I had to quit because of bugs/glitches breaking the game (first time got stuck on terrain; second time, it was the camera that got stuck).

Convinced me not to buy the game.

What would the world look like without Final Fantasy or Dragon Quest?

Not much different than it looks now. Square Enix has yet to produce a SINGLE good Final Fantasy game (sans remakes); the quality of the Dragon Quest games has also declined sharply thanks to their insistence to make it an MMO... and Square-Enix has betrayed precious little interest in localizing either franchise overseas.

Lot of high-profile CRPGs coming soon, but I gotta say, this is the one I'm looking forward to the most. Game looks -fantastic-, even if I'm not a big fan of turn-based CRPGs.

At least now it won't be in the same release window as BG2EE, but at the same time... isn't this Winter also the release window for Wasteland 2? (Another kickstarter RPG whose release was pushed back due to stretch goals).

For anyone curious: the game sucks. Technically better than ACV, but still garbage.

If you want a better customizable mech game, you can import Gundam Breaker for the same price, or buy a copy of AC4A for a lot cheaper.

Wow, I knew things were bad, but not that bad.

They really, desperately need to follow Nintendo's example and make certain they've got at least 1 high-quality release in every region, per month. And they really, desperately needed to have started doing that last year.

And people care what anyone at EA thinks about anything, because...?

Not so much that's it's worth skipping, but rather that it's advisable to wait for a hardware revision. Even if it's not a new model, it's concievable--or even likely--that Nintendo could revise the design w/ improved battery or software sometime within the next year.

The 3DS or Vita (can't remember which) actually had a similar problem, where the battery would drain just as fast while the system was asleep as off... which was more or less fixed via an...

Not really. I haven't finished the first one. I just don't like the controls. I think the Vita's analog sticks are too small to grant the kind of sensitivity third and first-person action games require.

Lucky you. I already own all the Vita games worth owning, imports included. Once Celceta comes out, I'm afraid the platform won't have much of anything left to interest me.

I was hoping for some meaty announcements at TGS, but nothing really caught me eye.

I honestly think Wind Waker HD is the best-looking Zelda game to date. It narrowly inches-out the previous best-looking Zelda game to date: Wind Waker.

Such a beautiful game.

But the best part?

There is no best part.
Nearly every single aspect of the game is absolutely jaw-droppingly perfect.

Nintendo's problem is that they're relying on, well, Nintendo. They really can't afford more than on X-type game at a time, and X isn't far enough in development to do much more than tease at this point.

What they really ought to do is follow Sony's example and start courting third parties. Get some big Namco-Bandai, Square Enix, and SEGA games on the platform, instead of just scrounging for "hand-me-down" ports like they've been doing.

I'm about as far from a Nintendo fanboy as you can get, and I found myself very impressed with the WiiU, library notwithstanding. But that was more of a first impression. Now, after around 1.5 months of of use, I would strongly argue that the WiiU is -NOT- worth buying, at least in it's current incarnation.

Again, library notwithstanding--the WiiU is and will continue to be an excellent platform, especially when it comes to retro gaming, but also thanks to its borrowe...

Hitbaiting drivel. Move along.

And they're not even deals, either. It's all MSRP stuff.

Basically, it's just an advertisement.

Well, I guess that settles it.

GTA fans prefer heavily-scripted sequences instead of free-form play. You guys must love the **** out of Final Fantasy XIII.

Wait, what the hell? Why are the numbering schemes for the Orochi games screwed up? I know the regular games have that whole Musou/Shin Musou split that was ignored in the west, but they screwed things up again?

@Nitrowolf: Here's the thing...

The whole point of a GTA game is freedom. In the open world, we're free to do whatever we want, whenever we want. That's the core appeal of the franchise. If the torture scene was noninteractive, it wouldn't be an problem at all--but it is interactive. It is, therefore, gamePLAY. How the narrative constructs and resolves the scene is, for the purposes of this discussion, completely irrelevant--we're talking gameplay, not sto...

No. If you don't torture him, you just listen to the same dialog repeated over and over forever.

Which is a shame. The game would have been better if you could choose not to torture yourself, and let that other douchebag do it instead.
