Go back and find some of the early Advent Children trailers. That's pretty much what they were.
Sixth? Are you counting that cell-phone game? I wouldn't......
Are you trying to imply it isn't? Have you ever visited any gaming forum, blog, or news site? It's pretty goddamn widespread. And "Bioware" is about as mainstream as it gets, pal.
I imagine there was a board meeting after FFXIII launched to widespread criticism, and that they've only JUST NOW determined to re-make FFVII.
I'm sure we'll see it on shelves in three to five years, replete with all kinds of "improvements" to make just about everyone hate the game.
Don't get me wrong, I'd love to see FFVII remade, I just don't think S-E's the developer to do it. Their track record has been pretty godawful.
I really don't get the mainstream DAO reviews. There's no moral ambiguity, there's hardly any variety (with quests, characters, monsters, spells OR weapons) and it follows one of the single most predictable story paths in decades. Sure, it's a fun game, but it's riddled with problems. a 6 or 7 out of ten would be more appropriate, but all the nines and tens this game is getting is ridiculous. Standards have really fallen.
But I guess that's to be expected. If getting rid of the s...
Thank god they're keeping the original dub intact. I thought the voice acting in Yakuza 2 was superb--some of the very best I've ever heard in a game. (Though the Kain games do come fairly close).
And thank god this is an honest-to-goodness OFFICIAL statement. Jesus Christ, is this good news. Here's hoping we get it before the summer. And--of course--UNCENSORED. Let those poor sods in Italy deal with a gimped version.
It's really not that nice.... it's decent, don't get me wrong, but it's far from the same quality as SO1 and SO2. I'll probably buy it, but only because I'm obsessive about finishing games I start, and I don't think I'll ever finish my 360 copy. Having to swap discs every two minutes to finish up side-quests is a HUGE hassle.
Also: Japanese dub FTW. The English VA is pretty godawful.
@Azimuth: I believe that has a lot to do with what you think happens after you die. Oblivion ain't exactly a happy notion, ya' know.
back on topic... do we really need to see Custer's Last Stand for EVERY ONE of these lists? The game is older than I am, and even when it was new I have a very hard time imagining more than a handful of people ever played it. Seriously--enough is enough. Can't we find more recent games that are more offensive? Here, I'll compile my own list:
...
I'm not seeing any update......
So the guy is whining because the PC isn't voiced? Goddamn, this is why I hate "kiddie" gamers.
When I play a localised game, or watch a foreign movie, I want to experience as much of the "original" as I can. Is there any good reason to slop someone else' song over the original?
Music is one of the few things that can be appreciated regardless of culture or language.
Warden's keep for myself. My "bug" is that the map-marker will not appear after talking to the guy in camp. I've also heard of a bug that will prevent players from speaking to the guy in camp, as well as bugs with the stone prisoner that make it impossible to finish (or even start) the quest.
There are a LOT of quest-related bugs in the game, not just with DLC.
Gee, I wonder how much of that money actually purchased DLC.
(for those of you who don't know, the DLC is pretty buggy and simply does not work for many players).
Great. Now where's Yakuza 3?
This notion only holds water if you only look at NA/EU releases of JRPGs... I don't think I need to point out how incredibly stupid that is, but there you have it. There are just as many JRPGs coming out now as there ever were, if not more. There are just more platforms. Instead of solely seeing these games on the Playstation 2, we're seeing healthy quantities of JRPGs appearing on the PS3, Xbox 360, Wii, PSP, DS, PC and mobile phones.
In terms of what the English-speaking world ...
PC version, maybe.
"Being unable to play the game while not connected to Xbox Live is unacceptable."
I think that deserves a 0/10.
...funny that only now, when the PS3 is getting bombarded with top-quality games and the 360's line-up has slowed to a trickle (for nearly a year), are people realizing that, hey, maybe the 360 isn't so great after all?
Honestly, I never understood how the 360 got so much love. I can only assume it's some mixture of launching first, and post-9/11 patriotism. Sure, I like my 360 moderately well enough (given I've never had it die on me)... but the PS3 has always had a better line-...
An aside comment to all those discussing gun-control in the United States:
In principle, I'm opposed to allowing civilians buy guns. I think it's ridiculous that you can walk into a store and buy an automatic assault rifle "for hunting." I think the conceal-and-carry stuff is bullshit.
It's different in practice, though.
Imagine what would happen if firearms were outlawed tomorrow. Imagine what would happen if the Police lost their guns. Those ...
So they went with yet another eurocentric campaign? Can't say I'm surprised. Luckily for me, Empire: Total War managed to kill pretty much any affinity I had for the series.
I know a lot of people seem to think that the drastic shifts in gameplay, from excessively linear to more open, traditional exploration, is due to developing FFXIII for the Xbox 360. While I'm sure that's part of the reason, I can't help but think it may be something of a kneejerk reaction to FFXII.
While a fun game, FFXII pretty much failed as an RPG because it focused on gameplay to the exclusion of story--of characterization, dialog, atmosphere, and the like. It fell too far i...
