"Normal people in very difficult situations..." WTF is this guy talking about? JttW is NOTHING like that. At all. Not even close.
What kind of game is this? Another JRPG?
If Atelier Rorona and Ar Tonelico 3 are any indication, we'll have a long wait for an English-language version.
"Could Transformers: War For Cybertron Be This Year's Batman: Arkham Asylum?"
No. Also: the only people who liked Batman: Arkham Asylum were people who loved Batman to begin with.
What's important is art design. Just so long as it's better than InFamous 1--just so long as they don't give all the female characters dog-faces--I don't care.
*E3 is underwhelming*
"It's okay, the devs are all saving the really BIG games for TGS"
*TGS is underwhelming*
"It's okay, the devs are saving all the really BIG games for E3"
...
Anyone else noticing a pattern? These big game shows seldom net many new game announcements, particularly of "big" games. You guys need to stop buying into the hype--and to stop perpetuating the hype.
Sure, I'm crazy with anticipation as much as the next guy, but Persona 5's absence was to be expected. The games that weren't at E3 that should have been were Ar Tonelico 3 and Atelier Rorona. Both new entries in popular RPG franchises, both PS3-exclusives, both being localized in the United States and Europe THIS YEAR. Their absence is... conspicuous.
Especially considering one of those games (can't remember which... I'm thinking it was Rorona) has alread...
I see 3D as little more than a gimmick--like the motion controllers this gen. Sure, it'll be implemented well in a few titles, but for the most part it won't really add anything to the industry, and may even prove a detriment to other games.
As for your pricing speculation... I think you're a bit off. $250 USD would be about the bare minimum I'd expect. $150 to $200 is just plain naive. The DSi XL retails for $190, so the 3DS is going to have to cost a good bi...
Since I've got a DSiXL. Gotta wait for the library to get good and big, and the price to drop. The 3D gimmick doesn't appeal to me at all, but an OoT remake I simply must play.
Like the kind of game that was only popular because it was released back with the PS3 had so very few worthwhile games--you know, way back in the day. Flower on the other hand was phenomenal.
Journey looks pretty damned cool. I really dig the art style. I've been known to buy games solely on the basis of art in the past (which, surprisingly enough, tends to produce better results than going by reviews) so even if the game sucks, I'll probably love it.
Planning for two expansions to a sequel to a game that was notoriously bad? Do they think that if there's more crap, it'll sell better?
The single best, but useful article regarding E3 on the whole of N4G.
Gotta wonder about DQIX on 3DS. Guess that means the DS version isn't worth buying?
...where your player character's appearence changes, drastically or not, regardless of what the player wants? I really hated that in Fable II.
Never heard of this game, but I'll be damned if that trailer doesn't get me excited for it. I have no idea what kind of game it is, but with character and monster design that good, I'd be a fool not to be interested.
Nice to see a WRPG aesthetic that involves original monsters, interesting wardrobes and crazy-awesome spell effects. Haven't seen that in a WRPG... in a very long time--so with my luck, this is probably not going to be an RPG at all. An action RPG...
Just about the only thing I was looking forward to at E3. I would have liked to catch a glimpse of the strategy map, though. Particularly since that's been the weakest aspect of the past... three total war games or so.
...Ulgh. What an irritating interviewer. Does anyone actually like that MTV-style of "interview?" It was painful to watch.
Nice to see Projekt Red getting some attention, though. Witcher 2 looks to be everything the Witcher was and more and better... which is awesome, because more so than any other game in the past decade, the Witcher belongs to that golden standard of fantasy RPG gaming that seemed to have died out with with Throne of Bhaal.
Bioware has never managed to fully capture the whole "consequence" aspect player-choice. I imagine Mass Effect 3 will be no different, and play out along the same very narrow path no matter what you choose to do in the game--only branching out at the very end.
So went Baldur's Gate II, Dragon Age: Origins, Mass Effect, Mass Effect 2 (well, not really), Jade Empire and Knights of the Old Republic.
This whole notion of "1000 variables carry o...
This years E3 is exactly as underwhelming as every other E3 in history.
It really sucks for 360 owners, to pay TWO monthly fees. MMOs in general are grossly overpriced compared to the content and quality of the experience they offer.
I see FFXIV the same way I saw FFXI. Sure, I'll play it for a bit... but I'll likely get bored soon. I'd have much rather seen a full Final Fantasy title. It's really sad that in an entire decade, Square Enix has only managed to publish two final fantasy games--both of which suffered major flaws due t...
I'm trying to envision motion controllers as mice, and it just feels kind of goofy to me. Mice are good because they offer the most amount of precision with the least amount of exertion compared to any other input device. With the Wii, at least, you've got the opposite--the least amount of precision, and the most amount of exertion. It's horridly inefficient. Even if the precision goes up, the exertion will stay the same, so at best what we'll end up with is a mechanic that is...
They only play games. Well, most of 'em. They're not really exposed to quality storytelling. Odds are they don't read, or what they do read is garbage, and they only bother watching garbage cinema. I mean, there's really no other explanation for a quote like this:
"Kratos is actually an extremely well-realized character and his story is an example of outstanding single-player narrative design."
You have to have exceptionally low stan...
