It was hyped to death as being a super computer and the ability to produce CGI graphics, then they released the "target renders" and I was blown away. Then came the price bombshell, and finally the ingame graphics of most titles and it was nothing like what they said it would be. Very dissapointing.

The current market is still small, neither the ps3 or 360 have hit the averge joe consumer and the install base is still considerably smaller then what we ended up with last generation. The wii is the only system that has mass market appeal however it's 3rd party support is less then stellar.

Sorry, but leave the bullsh!t at the door, a comment like that isn't in any way constructive. Halo 3 is a great title and very deserving of the scores it received, even if you personally don't feel that way.

The same thing happened with halo, it's just as good for PC as it was for the Xbox but it scored lower because the game isn't significantly better to warrent a better score.

You should understand the plight better then most. It's not a question of the colour pallet, but how it's used.
People are getting mixed up between the context of the word "darker", they don't mean it literaly, they mean it in a sense of emotion that the game should strive to provide.

The members of free radical where best when they were with rare, since then they've done, timesplitters, second sight, and haze. While all good games, they aren't better then what rare is producing today.

And the story is phenominal, the puzzles (no pun intended) are simple but require a proper frame of mind, and the music and art look and sound as good going backwards as it does forward, which is awe-inspiring.
This game is aboslutely amazing, to think a single person could produce such quality that even full development teams lack is inspirational to anyone who wants to make games.
Buy this game, and support this guy's talent, we need more people like him develo...
Everything I've heard from previews for fable, halo wars, bk:n&b all point to greatness.
Not to mention recently downloading braid (an excellent indie title) and the up coming too human I can't wait to get my game on.
Anyone who's played games from rare recently will know that they have been top notch. Even perfect dark, which was a rushed port over from the original xbox still has a feeling of polish in it's gameplay, even if everything else wasn't there.
I really hope they make a new FPS IP, one that screams the PD and Goldeneye feel, with polished and vareity in it's gameplay, and some of the great level design and weapons.
