5 Halo games in one year or two at most seems a bit farfetched.
And apart from Valkyria Chronicles I would also mention Mirror`s Edge, interesting concept that sadly has not driven sales as it should.
Anyway, both the PS3 and LBP seem to be holding their own quite well even with the price difference.

I see most of the spending going to one brand, Nintendo, and that could be worrisome for the other two if the tendency continues the way it is. New interesting IPs or quality games are in many cases not selling as expected,instead any Wii game by Nintendo sells zillions. I believe that tendency to be more worrisome, growth wise, than recession.
Or better, still, both factors are combined could indeed be worrisome for Microsoft and Sony.
People go back to it because it works flawlessly, its fun, requires skill, controls are tight, you have epic moments in multi blowing up stuff or doing multi kills, because other games dont give the same feel for some people.
Someone who really likes FPS should know how to differentiate how each style of game plays and recognize which one he likes better. And if you love them, then choose the one that caters best your mood each moment.
