Building a game for Linux? You think it would really be possible? I dont know, and I dont know if it would do much better than the Windows version, because it would have to cater to the same issues a Windows games does.
I always thought the important issue was creating the best games for your platform, combining exisiting franchises with new IPs.
In my opinion, new IPs are always much more interesting than franchises, and more processing power, new communities, new interfacing options should help develop new games and new ideas, not old rehashes and tech demos son that people can flame about 3 poligons on the right and four on the left with no real interest in gameplay.
It is interesting knowing the real finantial capacity of the company. A few years back they had enough money to buy all game studios in the world except Sony and perhaps Nintendo. Curiosity really.
I hope you are ironic...
Polished games? Running perfectly? ehem...
New experiences WITHIN?

Why all posts end with same people doing same comments...
As I recall the PS2, the absolute champion of last gen, outlived its competitors and was technologically older by a wide margin and less advanced, but games, price, and Sony brand made it a hit.
Now all of a sudden tech power is the most important aspect, what happened here?
Whooa... Seriously those guys apart from releasing a crappy game, not being able to fit 7Gb of game in a 9Gb disc must suck!!!
Copying is the sincerest form of flattery.
Lets hope it is the OS it should be.
Yeah, Crytek, cool, and now Sony decides they want to play the game as Nintendo did and not lose upfront 2 billion dollars with each console they develop. Where do you stand now?
It is sooooo stupid making this kind of remakrs right now soooo early. Nobody really knows how each company is going to play the game next time, perhaps the Wii shows eveyone that hyper highend systems are something redundant.
Think the following, next next gen supposedly starts around 2...
@Dj
You have a point, growth is important, but shareholders do not only look at growth, they look at absolute and relative numbers, in fact, lets not get shareholders into the equation as Sony`s shares are on the decline for a time now.
It is important for MS as a company to establish itself as a gaming brand in a continent that is so full of "hate" for its products ( being american does not help at all ) and is almost controlled by its japanese counter...
That is SO right! Europe had countires with 90% plus market share for Sony, what Microsoft has done is remarkable, and what Nintendo has done is stratospheric, if Sony does not manage to gear up sales in years 4, 5, and 6 it is going to be tough for ALL Sony Corp.
Should the PS3 had destroyed the 360 like on, ummm, ehem... release?
Repeat and rinse for each year after that, and each E3, and each leipzig, and each Xmas, and each...
Same silly argument for both sides of flaming bait, nothing personal ;-)
@Cahill
Sorry to contradict you, but no company is able to sell in Europe like a million units or million and a half in the middle of summer, perhaps the Wii really, try to lower down a bit those numbers.
For me both companies are quite near one from the other, and as I said before one claims PAL territories, the other Europe ( which countries? ), sold or shipped?, etc.
So hard to know the real numbers.
PD The Sony release wasnt for ...
Last time Sony said anything about sales in Europe, like before summer more or less they said they had sold 5 millon units.
People are always saying Xbox 360 is dead in Europe, that is not so true, 360 sales in Spain are miserable yes, but not abysmal as original Xbox was. France, Italy and Germany also have mediocre sales, but UK has great sales, and that market is as big as the previous four together. Europe is a lot of countries each one a whole different market.

Obviously. Sony is a giant, a conglomerate giant where each part wants to go one way, many times opposite in interest. Sony divisions dont work side by side, so it is logical that in this particular issue, the electronics division, the movie one and the computer one want different things.
What is amazing is that people do not complain about the draconian rules, they sort of justify it or well, I will buy the Blu Ray, well guys, it should not be that way, if you buy a content you are entitled to its usage for a long long long time.
Having other options does not justify the error of this, Spore is user friendly in comparison.
People make some funny logical arguments, movies in Blu Ray will sell more PS3s, it is possible, I really cannot say, perhaps in some markets it will and in others it wont.
Chistmas as a whole is going to be a system seller, cannot say if some movies, as good or blockbuster as they are will move systems.
I personally believe Blu Ray will be a more important selling point in the future not right now, and the future will be harder on the format, as not all the indu...
I do not think next Bungie game is a Master Chief FPS, it can be tied to the Halo universe, but it would not be a FPS with Master CHief. It could be an Arcade game ( Bungie is known to be working in more than two projects right now ), but such a fuss just for an Arcade would be illogical, well, this week we will know.
Everybody knows Sony is perfect, how can they dare to write that piece of crap?
Any article not praising Sony should be vetoed directly.
They need even more?
