These games will be released on their own store. Not Steam.

Who owns the Windows 10 store?

Who ends up getting the cut when 3rd parties release their software on the Windows 10 store?

But ask yourself...

Why do MS, Sony and Nintendo sell hardware in the first place?

What's the main purpose of that hardware in terms of revenue, outside of selling first-party titles?

Then ask yourself why they can't do the same things through both consoles and the Windows store.

@PSN_ZeroOnyx

Uh, why do platform holders sell consoles in the first place?

How much money does console hardware by itself bring in?

Consoles are loss leaders in which the purpose is to make revenue from software, 3rd party licenses, services and subscriptions.

Outside of Live subscriptions, what prevents them from doing the same thing with the Windows 10 store?

How much money have Valve, EA and Riot lost fro...

"TRUE exclusives"

I have a question...

Outside of Live subscriptions, what difference does it make to MS whether people buy their games on Xbox One or on their Windows 10 store? They get your money either way.

Also, why should Xbox owners care that more people get to play their games (and they have more people to play with through cross-play), thus ensuring sequels and more risks taken on IP for said players?

Would you mind pin-pointing where the article "justifies" not being "up there" with the PS4?

It even outright says MS screwed up HARD:

"When the Xbox One first launched, the company shot (nuked) itself in the foot. The Xbox One had digital rights management (DRM), putting a limit on the number of times a disc could be sold without going through a "participating retailer". They put a heavy emphasis on entertainment, going as ...

That's the point.

It's what they're aiming to do now.

"Why wud MS follow an ailing company?"

Did you read the article?

And since when is Nintendo "an ailing company"?

"Despite the poor sales of the Wii U, nobody in their right mind is declaring Nintendo to be dead. The company has billions in raw cash, and the value of Nintendo's intellectual property (IP) is virtually unrivaled, sitting among the likes of Disney and Warner Brothers when it comes to global recognitio...

@Zoombael

The article mentions building IP's on Nintendo's level.

Which current Microsoft or Sony IP is on the level of Mario, Pokemon or Zelda?

Their direction includes investing in and building up more IP's, cross-buy/cross-play through their own storefront, making it possible to play a game on any device through a single account, and making it extremely easy for devs to port PC games to Xbox and vice-versa with minimal alterati...

The article lays out why:

"On the other hand, one could argue Nintendo is ahead in the software department — and by software, what I really mean is video game properties. Despite the poor sales of the Wii U, nobody in their right mind is declaring Nintendo to be dead. The company has billions in raw cash, and the value of Nintendo's intellectual property (IP) is virtually unrivaled, sitting among the likes of Disney and Warner Brothers when it comes to global recogni...

Yet, people seem to be fine with Sony plastering "PS4 Console Exclusive" all over SFV packaging.

Is Sony being deceptive?

Which is it?

Is the words "PS4 Console Exclusive" directly on Street Fighter V packaging an example of Sony being "very deceptive"?

What's wrong with the current KI?

@3-4-5

I forgot to add:

KI also has the lowest amount of offline input lag out of any current-gen fighter:

"...so the question here is not who is "better" because that's a matter of opinion but who is bigger?"

To be fair, MK is bigger than Street Figther in North America (MKX sold 5 million copies in 2015 without a re-release and was in the top 10 selling games last year), but then some people would scream bloody murder if anyone implied that MK was better than Street Fighter.

Repost from the other page, but some potential reasons for many people:

The reasons a lot of people, including myself, love Killer Instinct -

KI has the absolute best netcode out of any fighting game, other than Skullgirls.

The game's Dojo mode is one of the best fighting game tutorials and is an excellent tool for helping news players not only learn KI, but also learn fighting games in general. The game's practice mode/lab is also pr...
