"no mention of rrod"
It was fixed mid-2007, and any problem is fixed for free. NOt really an issue except to Sony FUD spreaders.
"or the fact you need to pay for laggy onine"
A) There is no lag - you're talking smack.
B) $50 a year for the premier online service? Yes, no problem. Happy to pay, no problem.
"I think by the time 360 gets into 3rd place in the council race, it will be time for the next gen council to launch"
I just cannot understand people like you. That simply is *not* going to happen.
The Xbox 360 has sold 19M units.
The PS3 has sold "almost" 12M units.
The Xbox 360 is *dominating* software sales, it actually has a record for the HIGHEST attach rate in console gaming history.
Pretending other...
hheheh, well, if you spend too much time on N4G, you tend to become wrong in many ways.
I suggest you read more news sources. Someone on N4G has lied to you :)
Fact: The Xbox 360 is barely being outsold by PS3. Just barely. At the present rates of sales, the Xbox 360 **WILL* remain ahead of the PS3 for many years to come.
Fact: The Xbox 360 is dominating games sales and game quality. Based on reviews, sales and awards, there is no arguement on this point. The Xbox 360 library is superior.
Now, the question becomes, what will change these two things? If you're the kind of person who believes that "PS3's 2008 li...
Its hillarious that instead of addressing the material presented in the article -- all the usual illogical emotion based arguments from the usual crowd comes up.
"Oh! CNet is biased!!1!" being the top of the list of things that desperate people say when they cant face the reality of the argument.
Halo 3 released when Xbox 360 had a base of about 12Million. By Gears of War 2, the Xbox 360 install base will be what...? uhm 24-28M?
Gears of War 2 has sold over 5M today. I wouldnt be suprised to see Gears of War 2 be a very very big game, possibly exceeding Halo 3's sales.
There is two very important things to note about that list.
A) The Audiences are different sizes.
B) The prices have risen.
These numbers arent comparing oranges to oranges. Halo 3 sold far more copies to its available audience than GTAIV did.
There will be some very big game in 2-3 year that does it. The install base is still very small.
Some cross-platform game released two-three years from now will beat it.
I'd wager Madden 2010 will beat it.
This generation is young yet, and the install base for GTAIV was about 31M (19M Xbox - 12M PS3) -- in 2-3 years, that total is going to be 100M.
Someonthing will beat it.

They are going to be selling things, Home is going to be a giant mall. The aim is to facilitate microtransactions and toll-booths and such. Its pretty clear that is the aim.
Its pretty clear they envisioned home to be a revenue system for its partners.
Paying $3.10 per month for LIVE is well worth it. And, home has nothing to do with it.
The market for Ninja Gaiden is very mass-market. Only core-gamers know of NG's reputation for "difficulty".
Would you say HS, God of War or DMC are "hardcore"? No. Ninja Gaiden is a mass market adventure title -- it has broad appeal.
Will it sell as much as MGS4? Probably not in an "attach rate" sense, but considering the install base gap, they may be closer than many expect.
In the end, who cares? MGS is going to...
Bundling MGS4 is a method for Sony to try and ramp-up its install base. You dont bundle your most important title with your console unless your willing to exchange revenue for install base.
Simple as that. It certainly is a good idea to achieve your goals, but not decision you make from a position of strenght. In effect, its another PS3 price cut.
Edit: Hm, did MS bundle Halo 3? I didnt know that. LOL @ the disagrees. Here this clearly: Bundling your most...
The best place to get started is to goto http://forums.xna.com
I imagine the XNA Community is going to play a big part in all of this. And, with them purchasing Danger, I'd imagine the HipTop will also become a target for these games.
That would be Computer, Console, Handheld and Cellphone as a market for XNA games.
I'm thinking they want to bring together a collection of "small games".
The Zune is 2nd in hard-drive based Digital Audio Players.
Many many people have Zunes -- and they are (easily arguably) the best player in the market.
IT is clear you dont know wtf you are talking about. I think the world might be better off not taking technology advice from someone who says
"Almost all mp3 player files are built for ipods anyway"
Thanks for your input.
The XNA Community is going to be setup that will bring XNA titles to Zune, Xbox 360 and PC -- develop one game, ship to three very differnt audiences.
Pretty great idea.
I predict they'll open it up to Windows Mobile Phones and/or the next Danger device.
There are a lot of cool games under development too, check out the XNA forums; http://forums.xna.com/
There are a lot of differe...
MS is moving into the handheld gaming space. I just wonder if they intend to do it on the Zune exactly.
I still imagine another device, more geared toward gaming is coming. Getting XNA titles onto Zune is a good move for sure -- perhaps the next Danger phone will run this same library of games (my bet).
Whatever the case, handheld gaming is about to get a shake-up.
What do you think if MS packs-in a Newton controller with the Arcade at Xmass?
Things could change in a hurry for Wii.
