I was annoyed about this, too, until I figured out how to use Spotify in-game.
Push down the middle PS button down for a few seconds. At the top you can skip tracks without suspending your game. Just press L1 or R1 to go forward and backwards. Press X to pause your song or resume.

People seem to forget game development goes as such:
1. Pre-Alpha: Design the game. Create the story, the art, the music, etc.
2. Alpha: Have everything you want in the game. Don't add or remove anything, but simply refine what you have and balance the game.
3. Beta: Get rid of the bugs, test thoroughly.
4. Gold: Finished game! Ship. Sell.

I tested their Alpha build. It seemed interesting! Definitely along the gameplay of Minecraft or Don't Starve, but with a more marxist feel.
There was a steep learning curve, but that may because there was no tutorial in the alpha build.

I think the fact that Naughty Dog made corrections to their multiplayer formula with The Last of Us shows they understood their mistakes with Uncharted 3.
