The writer is recognizing that 13 ushered in HD gaming just like 7 ushered in 3D gaming for the Final Fantasy franchise.
So yes -- it's not a subjective statement about quality, but an objective statement of fact.

Final Fantasy IX is an absolute masterpiece and the swan song of the series. Everything about the game is a masterpiece: the Easter eggs, the motifs, the themes, the art, the characters, the music, the story, the gameplay. The game took hundreds of hours to complete, and I played it probably 10 times growing up.
It's a shame Final Fantasy 9 was overshadowed by the PlayStation 2 coming out and Final Fantasy 7 on the PlayStation 1 being the first one to go 3D.

That's not the point. It's $250 for a brand new console. Sure, it's a pathetic excuse for a console, but that's cheap. "Just $100 more" doesn't really make an argument. You can always get more power for more money.
For example: PS4 currently costs $400. Just $100 more and you can get a decent gaming PC with more powerful graphics.
(I spent $400 on my PS4 and $480 building my gaming PC with an Nvidia GTX 960 in it.)

When hardcore fans have to create entire forums and websites trying to understand what the hell is going on in the universe, it doesn't make him "deep." It makes his stories convoluted.
I refuse to get excited for this game. I was so excited for Final Fantasy 13 only to be let down. I'd rather be pleasantly surprised than to have high expectations met; it's much more satisfying.
I'm really looking forward to what Nintendo has in store for the future of mobile gaming. Their handhelds have always been great, and they just patented Nintendo emulation for smartphones.

PS1, PS2, and PS4 games need to be added onto PS Now as well. Is it still technically in beta? Hopefully it won't be like PlayStation Home -- that thing was in beta nearly the entire lifespan of the PS3.
