Predictably, we have numerous fanboys, unable to accept differing views of their favorite game, who would allege that I don't have a PS3 and/ or haven't played MGS4.
What is shocking is how some, like one by the name of "Closing", are so determined to make this point they would go the extra mile and make it their life mission to repeatedly report and challenge ad nauseum my assertion that I am a not-so-proud PS3 owner. And also stupidly accuse me of using an alternat...
Firstly, where is your unreserved apology for falsely accusing me of having an alternate account?
Secondly, what other acts of repentence can I expect from you to make it worth my while to prove that I have a PS3 and have probably played more games on it than you have?
You're such a fanboy you'd believe utter crap like this article simply because it is pro Sony, but you'd accuse me of being fake even though I must obviously have played the game to have written th...
I didn't enjoy UT3 on the PS3 at all, but it could be a community thing, or rather lack of it. Still, no reason to get it on 360 with Gears coming out just a few months later.
Alternate account? Are you blind or just can't read?
And here I was aghast at how low the author of this article would stoop to further his fanboy agenda, and you come along and record a new low with baseless accusations.
Calling it an article lends it too much credence imo.
Wow look at the series of deleted posts. A clear indication of how much the haters out there rightfully fear this game much.
Sounds like any one of Nasim's merry men trying to masquerade as a Microsoft fanboy and make Sony look good.
Fail.
Darksniper pwned! Big time!
PS3 games are all showing off how the system is a joke.
What I'd like to see is that the achievement points or trophies actually giving gamers some kind of real reward, whether in terms of exclusive game unlockables, game downloads or even MS points/ credits.
One of the few reviewers who are not afraid to be honest. Especially true that beneath the refined sheen of stunning but absurdly long and contrived cutscenes, MGS4 has very primitive or at least unprogressive game mechanics. One for the fans ONLY.
Is excitement an emotion? Is exhilaration an emotion? Is fear an emotion?
Are emotions only brought out by soppy longwinded stories?
I was hoping that White Knight will be out this year. The trailer was out a long time ago.
Where did I say that Snake moves like an old man? My complaint is that as a game, the motions are slow and rigid and does not serve very well at all the purposes of combat or stealth. Does making the protagonist an old man justify such unprogressive gameplay mechanics?
Apart from the generality of praise, does anything in the quotes you have given tell you anything about how the game actually plays?
The Gamepro quote that proclaims that you can play MGS4 Gears of War-style and is one of the best shooters out there is an outright and blatant lie.
I didn't write this review to impact anything. I wrote it to highlight a lot of glaring faults with the game that nobody seems to want or dare to talk about. These faults are crippling in my opinion because they relate to very fundamental aspects of the game, whether gameplay or cinematics. Not only did MGS4 not bring anything progressive to the genre (whichever it purports to be), the gameplay mechanics are in fact quite backward. Strip away the impressive action bits in the cinematics a...
Not only are the cut-scenes too long, they come one after another (with long load/ installation times), completely eclipse the gameplay and contain dialogue and scripting that are unbearably contrived and/ or convoluted at times. Passive entertainment + self indulgent are 100% correct descriptions about this "game", and I find it hard to believe that any of you don't know it.
Cliffy is now Sony Enemy #1 because he spoke the truth about MGS4 being passive entertainment.
Judging by this post, it appears to me any news of Gears is still causing PS3 fans to go into a big panic.
Good.
Slightly more detail? Look at the environments, its a big leap ahead!
I wonder why some people get Sony defensive about everything, even an article as neutral as this.
