Very astute observations Zhuk. Games like GTA IV and MGS4 which require long harddisk installations to run on the PS3 have revealed the severe limitations of the PS3 architecture and the complete fallacy of the Blu-ray storage argument. The only drawback of the 360 (a serious one no doubt) has been the RROD problem and thank God that's all fixed up now.
This game looks to be a potentially great one regardless.
NG2 is a more visceral and enjoyable action game than MGS4.
MGS4 has better presentation, graphics, cinematics and storyline.
Both are imperfect
But I appreciate that NG2 does not pretend to be more than a fighting action game, and that in NG2 you get to play the coolest parts of the game rather than sit back and watch them and think "why can't I execute anything remotely similar to those moves ingame with Snake?".
The same way people respect reviewers who give MGS4 a 10 and call it a cinematic masterpiece - gawd, the dialogue is so contrived!

You are right I have never played MGS before. And from a fresh point of view, there are a lot of things about the game that just do not feel right. The whole concept of Drebin is another unsophisticated aspect of the game that spoils the game and makes it feel cheap.
I tend to think that people who love the storytelling in MGS4 to be rather pretentious and cannot tell real sophistication from pseudo sophistication.
I'm playing MGS4 now and while it is technically the most polished game I have played, it is also one of the most overhyped. Puts Halo 3 to shame imo.
The overarching storyline is intriguing, but the scripting is downright horrible (Snake is portrayed like some illiterate with his constant hurrhs and humms). Some gameplay concepts are interesting, but portable cardbox and oil drum cover in this day and age are stuff I'd expect in a Nintendo game. The fight against Laughing O...
