I swear the next Xbox is shaping up to be THE most gadget-driven console ever between Kinect, Illumiroom, and the rumored VR glasses. I would have preferred MS to invest all that time, money, and effort in quality games rather than all these gimmicks!
FUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU UUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU UUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU UUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU UUUUUUCK ME!!!!!!! I cannot wait to play this game!!!
Best response so far! It doesn't have to be either/or folks! Both systems can and will coexist and both will offer things the other will not. I will buy a PS4 no doubt. For 3 generations in a row, Sony has not disappointed me. I see no reason why this trend would change next gen. With Xbox, I MIGHT get one but I will take a wait and see approach. I want to see how much of an effort they make in providing exclusive in-house games that cater to the core gamer.
F_ _ _ kin' LOVE that video!
I'm really looking forward to trying this controller out. I'm glad they have lengthened the grips back to more of what they were on the original Dual Shock. I'm also glad they have implemented triggers for L2 and R2.
Hey Sony, just take it!! Take all my damn money! What the hell, I'll make more!!
It will be perceived that way for the simple fact that MS is showing last. The one that goes last ALWAYS has the perceived upper hand. I guarantee you that no matter what they show or promise, Xbox fanboys are going to wet themselves and declare victory right there on the spot.
"In all seriousness, what else can they do differently, that they didn't do this gen?"
Create more compelling exclusive IP's that cater to the core gamer. This is the one glaring weakness with the Xbox IMO. Too reliant on 3rd party titles, plus they won't have the luxury of having a year head start on next gen titles, a less expensive price, or the ease of development advantage. The only thing that will separate these 2 consoles are the exclusive IP...
The 360 was unveiled at prime time on MTV! That worked out pretty well for them. I would have thought they would do something similar for the new system.
The only thing that I find strange about their May 21st announcement is that it's supposedly at 10am on the west coast (1pm on the east coast). Why on Earth would you have your unveiling so early in the morning (or middle of the afternoon if you're on the East coast) when everyone is still at work/school instead of doing it at prime time?
Well said!
IMO, the Playstation already has desirable exclusives. The Xbox needs more of them. Halo, Forza, and Gear of War are nice but they need more exclusive franchises that aren't in XBLA.
Specs are final. Devs already have final (or near final) dev kits and are working on titles. No way MS suddenly changes architecture this late in the game. They may add more RAM or something of that nature but they're not going to suddenly scrap the CPU/GPU configuration that devs are already working with.
I'd be shocked if MS misses this holiday for the launch of their new system. No way they let Sony have 2013 all to themselves for next generation.
It's multiplatform yes but MS brilliantly markets these 3rd party games to give the perception that they are Xbox exclusive. I cannot tell you how many times I've seen a commercial for a multiplatform game where at the end it ONLY showed the 360 logo, giving the notion that this is the ONLY platform you can play it on.
This website posts WAY too many opinion pieces.
Well, it depends on the game but generally yes, as PS3 owner I anticipate exclusives more than multiplats because exclusives are coded closer to the metal and take better advantage of the hardware. However that's not to say I'm not enjoying the great multiplat games out there like Skyrim, Bioshock Infinite, Mass Effect series, Tomb Raider, The Walking Dead, etc
Sums up how I feel
You do realize that singling out fanboys of a specific platform makes you sound like the biggest fanboy of them all right?
Sony was coming off of a generation where they had seen sales of 100 million + PS2's sold. They owned the market and were aboslutely in the driver's seat going into this generation. Their market share has effectively been cut in half this generation. Sure, they may wind up with more units sold than MS when it's all said and done but I don't see how Sony can look at this generation as anything but a disappointment.
