Judging by the disagrees, you're definitely in a minority.

Clearly Nintendo have not made much profit on Pokemon all these years and been unable to leverage their close relationship with the brand. I'm sure they have no plan to leverage off the success of Pokemon Go with their new console/s or that Sun and Moon won't get a single sale more through renewed and broadening interest in the Pokemon brand.

Describing Joel as "nasty and bitter throughout the game" makes me wonder if the author played the same game that I and everyone I know played. We universally liked how Joel's character gradually transformed during the game from being a self-centred and bitter man back to the caring human he was at the start.

My teenage son is now playing the game and he was just telling me how Joel is softening the more time he spends with Ellie. LoU was a remarkable narrati...

I'll never forget playing Pikmin 1 with a friend who only played RPG and Strategy games on PCs and saw consoles as toys. After about 10 minutes he asked to have a go and then after another 10 minutes said "hey, this is a strategy game!" 4 hours later and he was still playing it. He's come over to play each Pikmin since and no doubt will again when I buy Pikmin 4.

Wow! That's the most positive article I've ever read about Nintendo by Michael, though he does qualify everything with 'if'.

Zack and Wiki would be on my list as it was one of the few games that used the wiimote creatively on a system that sold 100 million units, yet it only managed around 120 thousand.

The reason the WiIU failed isn't because of the gamepad. As a controller the gamepad is fine and off tv play is a great feature that's often under-utilised. It's only real problem is its poor battery life.

No, the problem was that Nintebdo set a price point for the system too low to accommodate the gamepad. They then went ahead and made an underpowered console using RISC architecure because it was compatible with the Wii; thinking 100 million Wii owners would u...

@ SolidGear3
The Lynx was amazing for its time. Had good graphics and sound and was a blast linked up with other players. Games like Todds Adventures in Slime World, Warbirds, Bill and Teds, and Gauntlet were awesome multiplayer fun. It's surprising how later gen handhelds didn't push local multiplayer as it works so well. It was a shame battery life sucked so badly.

I could sell you a Game Gear and a Lynx.

For me it's why I'm going back to building a gaming PC and buying an original Xbone for peanuts when Scorpio comes out.

@wondefulmonkeyman
Assuming NX is handheld; a year old NVIDIA Tegra X1 chip can push out about a teraflop which is more than twice what a WiiU can do, so it is possible to make portable of at least similar power. This would also coincide with their claims that the WiiU and NX experience of Zelda will be the same.

Going further, If Nintendo is capable of leveraging AMD's technology, like what's gone into the Polaris chips, then it's possibly similar to ...

@EDMIX

Your comments about relative sales is correct, however it glosses over the actual numbers. Yes, Mario Kart 8 has sold way, way less than the Wii version, however it has still shifted in excess of 7.5 million which are good sales figures for any game. If the WiiU had a half decent instal base that number would be vastly bigger. Again, would it be better if it was on PC, PS4 and Xbone? Of course, but that isn't Nintendo's business model.

As ...

The Virtual Boy was more of a 3D experience than a VR as it was a fixed perspective. Both WiiU and 3DS are arguably closer to VR because perspective could be moved more naturally to where you looked, though not by your head. (think AR games and WiiU games and apps where you move the device to view around. Of course they aren't true VR unless you somehow strap them to your head ala Samsung Gear...how long before someone straps a gamepad to their head?

We'll have to wait and see what 'empty' actually means. I seriously doubt thiis will be pointlessly empty. Maybe areas or parts of the game will be, giving it the Journey vibe that it appears to have in the demo. Time will tell.
