I'll wait for the PSVR Pro

I'm sorry, an R9 or Pascal is way less powerful than a PS4, how?

In which market that Sony and Apple compete in does Sony totally dominate? Sony is a shadow of the company it was 10 years ago. I think Nintendo and Apple would bring a great mix of features and benefits for the consumer. Personally, I'm very disappointed in my PS4 as it seems to do no more than my PS3 did.

@ Shin
With MS and Sony making my current gen consoles obsolete in the next 12 or so months and new cheap low to mid-spec graphics cards, I'm left wondering what future there is for consoles?

If the experience with consoles is little more than graphics then the PC is looking better and better, particularly given the improved graphics and cheaper game options. Apart from exclusives, there'll be little reason to own a PS4 or Xbone; which can be said for Nint...

What if their concept are buttons that you can place anywhere on the screen that give the feel of actual buttons? This would fit with the original patents and Miyamoto's E3 assertion about "copiers" as this would be an easy thing for other companies to quickly copy.

Right now, anything released on the WiiU would be awesome.

I doubt the WiiU hardware could handle highly detailed Voxels like in NMS. Although it does a commendable job with Minecraft, the density of Voxels in NMS is an entirely different beast. Maybe the fabled NX could do it justice?

I'd add the Atari 400s mercenary and Amiga's Starglider 2. Starglider let you fly from planet surface to space and down to another planet and then even fly into caves, all without loading.

No worries. I'm coming from the perspective of someone who saw the Atari 2600 as a revolution in innovation when it came out. My Hanimex console had 8 built in games and all looked like pong....

We're all entitled our own opinions and, like you, I expressed mine. I never accused you of hating on Nintendo, and even if you do, that's your right. People too often accuse others of hating because they don't agree with their point of view. I don't. I support your right to a point of view as much as my own.

My point is simply that there has been very little innovation in gaming this generation. This is a concern as it seems that M...

If Sony and MS are innovating, then those increments are getting smaller and smaller and less fundamental to gameplay. Things like achievements and party chats were last gen and even before. Both Xbox One and PS4 are very similar machines offering very similar experiences to each other and the machines that preceded them.

Your reference to the GameCube is erroneous as it was the last 'standard' non gimmick console Nintendo made and was arguably more powerful than th...

I wonder what he thinks is new and innovative in current generation? Apart from graphics, I'd be buggered if I can tell the difference between this gen and the last. Maybe that's why there are so many HD remakes that even the publishers and other gamers can't either.

Don't get me started on End User Agreements; they're like getting a personal dance at a strip club.

Then you should take a look at Ori and the blind forest to get your 2D Metroidvania fix. It's a great tribute to 'old skool' platform shooting, exploration fun and I'm currently loving it.

You raise some good points, but I think you have to also look at where most of those games coming on the Vita were made. Handhelds do well in Japan and the Vita has sold reasonably there. Not stunning, but they're not the rare beasts they are in other countries and it has outsold the WiiU in Japan.

For a home console, I think the lack of power and non X86 architecture did the initial damage with developers and publishers who then dropped their ...

It'll be hilarious if the number 1 selling console this Xmas will have no networked gameplay, wired controllers, no Blue Ray or media abilities, only ever thirty games, emulates a machine that had a single core 8-bit processor with a blistering 1.79 MHz, 2kb of working ram and 2kb for the GPU that could display all of 64 sprites at a high defn 256x240 in glorious 25 colours .

It has the potential to outsell current gen consoles this Xmas, which would be incredibly ironic if that happens. Very smart move by Nintendo to release a closed console that shouldn't interfere with the release of the NX and still rake in millions from Xmas sales. A brilliant strategy if it works!

With any luck they'll also make mini versions of 3DO(a), Atari Jaguar and Virtual Boy. No gamer's collection is complete without these beasts.
