Good call. I'd gladly replace my Sony GS7 Google TV box with a PS4. This would be a great idea. Hopefully, Sony is listening. This would help battle Microsoft in the phone arena as well.
@One4U: Would people stop saying this. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Microsoft is an American company and the whole Live TV/cable box thing is more of an American thing, but the opposite could be said abotu this whole online-based idea as well. The U.S. is kinda low on the totem pole when looking at internet speeds and reliability. Maybe Microsoft made this for Asia???
@theBAWSE: Yeah, because Nintendo will just drop what they are doing and release half-assed games. Let them make perfection and be patient. They'll come.
I've actually heard from quite a few people within the industry around the time the Wii U was going to be announced that yes, EA and Nintendo were in talks over having Origin as the backbone to Nintendo Network. However, EA would have had too much control. Part of the reason EA was willing to lose money on porting games over to Wii U at first was because they assumed Ninty was going to sign off on the deal. I believe the recent backlash from EA is in fact due to this deal.
They wanted to release it on all consoles. Microsoft has a clause within their contracts that says when you release a game multi-platform, the game cannot release on another console before a 360 version. They were kinda out of luck and didn't have a choice...
No, look at it this way: what if I took a Let's Play video and decided to use that in my own video. Let's say I recorded my own thoughts against an entire Let's Play video and that's all I added to the video. I now have Nintendo's original content AND a Let's Play original content that really makes up the bulk of the video. All I added was dialogue to speak against the Let's Player's dialogue.
The Let's Players are simply adding dialogue to...
Well, in 6 years their next console will be on par.... I mean come on. Who cares? Let's wait and see what Mario and Zelda look like on Wii U before we shun them.
Wow.... how enlightening you are.../s
Exactly and EVERY console launch goes through this same thing....
Another "gamer" that knows nothing of how Nintendo franchises and games work. Without the Ninty hardware, their games become crap. They would lack innovation and imagination. It would then turn into yearly releases of Zelda, Mario Kart and Smash Bros.... it just wouldn't be the same and in the end, their sales would decline until they begin to turn into every other 3rd-party...
@McScroggz
People didn't see it happening during the NES era either because sports games weren't Nintendo's demographic, but they did indeed create sports games due to the lack of them...
Actually, I think the textures look a bit better on Wii U...
They weren't on the 3DO. It was the CD-i
Nintendo didn't sell the rights. They gave Phillips permission to create 2 Mario and 2 Zelda games for developing the CD-ROM attachment to the SNES for very little funding from Nintendo...
Actually, let me correct myself on this and make a bigger note to you reynod: transistors on INTEGRATED CIRCUITS will double every 24 months. This includes GPUs...
Actually, Moore's law states that the transistors on a CPU will double every 24 months. Intel's David House predicted that due to this law and those transistors getting faster, performance will double every 18 months....
Well, wait a second. Isn't this game running in 3D at 30 fps??? Turn off the 3D and you should see 60 fps if not near 60 fps. Right?
@ Gumtrol and Shifty:
Not sure how well that would work... plus, that would create a lot of lag for X720 games. This is how my setup would look in that situation:
CableBox->GoogleTV->X72 0->Receiver->TV
Yeah... just a bit crazy
Yep. Google TV is something that already uses this. In fact, this is my current setup and I have no need for the NextBox to do this....
@Waller no, the PS4 actually doesn't use the XMB... they showed images of their new UI in February...
