I don't think there is such thing as a SINGLE golden age. There is always going to be a renaissance in gaming that comes along every so often.
Among the many that have already been listed I think a really fun time in gaming was the peak of PC Adventure gaming. Starting with kings quest and going through all of the monkey island games, Day of the Tentacle and Sam and Max. Thank god Sam and Max are back. Gamers need them :)
HMM yeah. Maybe I should ship him my Sony DVD player that lets the video and the audio get out of synch. Requires a firmware update which can only be done by shipping it to sony. YAY.
I'm absolutely in agreeance with a few of you.
Initially I was disappointed with the graphics, but once you actually start playing it, you just don't notice them. Seriously, if you can stare at the scenery then the racing game isn't doing its job. I'm WAY too focused on the road to even notice the backgrounds. The graphics are good enough to make it "feel" right.
I'd easily take the hit on graphics for the incredibly smooth framerates.

You do realize THAT is why microsoft pushed so hard to get the 360 out then right? I mean...seriously...that is PART OF THEIR STRATEGY. Comon. Of COURSE you are supposed to compare who has more games right now. WHY ELSE RELEASE A SYSTEM A YEAR IN ADVANCE? Sony knew about this situation coming in.

I'm sorry, but the single player experience with Halo and Halo 2 were NOT earth shattering by ANY means. Halo 1 had some of the most boring and agonizing level design I've ever played. ESPECIALLY towards the end. I mean geez how many times do I have to go through the SAME DAMN Corridor with the goddamn flood chasing me.
It's personal opinion of course, but COD, Half-life, Half-life 2, amongst many others were far suprior single player games than either halo or halo2.

I went from PS2 to 360. Granted I broke my PS2 right before SOCOM came out (yeah...the first one) and never replaced it with anything after that. I was mainly a PC gamer. But I did miss out on quite a few classics for the ps2...
besides, if the 360 has sold 9.8 million units, then 10% of that is 980,000. Ok, so 980,000 pissed off people out there out of 9,800,000? *shrug*

Ya know, I have an internal conflict with myself about the $600 price tag. On one hand I personally think you DO get a lot of potential for that $600. BUT I don't really think that you can REALLY get $600 worth of use/entertainment out of it YET. Not everyone has a 1080p TV that can take advantage of Blu-ray (not to mention the selection is a bit limited ATM), and the "Must Own" games aren't out yet.
They can't possibly afford to lower the price yet, and they can't...
