I assume the US servers are open then, here in the EU I can't go online (bought the game today), the Network Pass isn't accepted (says "invalid or entered incorrectly"). Question: did you experience the same before the US servers were open?
Awesome news! Now...when will the servers go online? Put the plug in, come on! Played part of the tutorial, explored the maps (good stuff) so I'm all set, good to go...now START THE ACTION!
PS: can't go online yet (EU), the Network Pass isn't accepted (says "invalid or entered incorrect"), I assume this is normal because the servers aren't up yet? Hope so, don't want to get busted tonight for breaking in to get new codes and end up in jail.
Amen to that. Warhawk's only flaw was that new players had nowhere to go to learn the mechanics but online, which of course can be very hard when there are enough experienced players. Starhawk, again made with the focus on MP, fixes that yet reviewers fail to appreciate it. Give them something extra and they only see more to complain about.
Ah, forgot about that one, never played it. PS1 was all WipEout 2097 for me, missed the first Twisted Metal also.
Can't remember the trailer but I can imagine how it looked, MAG had a simmilar trailer I think. A CGI that shows 50+ players on screen, where in reality you usually don't see more than 10-15. Still a great game, put over 1300 hours in it and Starhawk may very well do the same, beta was awesome.
You mean no SP and only MP, like Warhawk, and yes, that wouldn't change my day 1 purchase either. If only in Holland they would decide what day 1 is, it's still not in stores:(
And you're right, the addition of tutorial like SP to prep you for the MP, something Warhawk missed, is just more to complain about for some people. Sad.
"This is multiplayer at its finest, and it’s among the best you’ll find on any platform"
That last sentence says it all, and after 2 months of playing the beta, I concur.
Sad review. He admits all the elements for online greatness are there, but the games he played - during a beta without filters, clanoptions, experienced players - often lacked the necessary teamwork, therefore all the online matches will be like this, hence a 6 out of 10. I'm afraid he's got a lot of readers and should they be interested in something new online he's not doing them a favour. After 2 years of MAG I know there's plenty of players willing to play a tactical teamba...
xBox is all about online gaming and that's where Starhawk shines, so yeah, this article has a point. A successful beta, 32 players on big maps, dedicated servers with all the filters, clanoptions & tournaments, it's tailor-made for an online audience like few console game are these days, although I'm sure xBox-only gamers will get their fair share of online action with Halo 4 later this year. But that's also great about Starhawk, the release in the middle of the year. Game...
Same here, the beta got me hooked. No luck in the stores yet, hopefully tomorrow. Usually I can find one selling early, but not today:(
We won't miss him online, that's for sure.
Yes, the emphasis is on online multiplayer and some online modes actually need tactical teamwork in order to win, and not everyone in the beta got that at first. No reason to slam it with a six, he should have handed the job to somebody that can appreciate something new. I mean this is an ugly review, no effort whatsoever.
Best review so far and I don't mean the A- but the info he gives, the focus on the unique & deep multiplayer
Yes sir, Starhawk!
Good review. The story may suck, yet the SP is good because it explains the mechanics and is meant to prep you for the MP, where the meat is. Good to see the reviewer realises Starhawk was build for the MP and therefore should be judged on that. And imo he's right about this game being probably the best online experience on PS3. One of the best of this entire console generation.
I read the review and played the beta, and expected reviews like this...based on a few bad MP rounds during the beta, when most players are new and don't know what to do, and the clan options weren't open yet. I experienced that to, but also noticed that when you stick with a group a few rounds and use your mic well, random players can pick-up quickly. The gameplay in the MP is deep, easy to learn and hard to master, very well balanced and has unique RTS elements, yet this review read...
Good review. The multiplayer part reads like a nine, that's where the meat is.
"Wage War - Like Never Before"
So true. And finally a trailer that shows off the massive action in this game. Great graphics & style. At first some players may think meh, untill things start moving & go Boom! 2 more days=)
For me it's the other way around, we should join up. I blast anything in range of my little tank, including Hawks. A lot of Hawks:)
Boring video, almost alone on a 32 player map. Nevertheless, Starhawk is awesome. Probably best MP this year. So much action, too bad this video doesn't show that.
I played for 1 day now, I love the game, but I'm having the same issues. For now it's like in the beta, too many CTF and Zone games get frustrating because people either don't know or don't care about the 32 building cap. LBI needs to fix that, something like building 31 and 32 can only be build at 50 ft from the enemy flag, or max 2 outposts, cuz they sure like to build their little kingdoms in the middle of nowhere.
Of course this game needs time, clans will...
