I found the following very interesting when comparing how the PS3 works differently then the 360.
Q: How do you look back at this point on the differences between the PS 3 and the Xbox 360?
A: You’ll have a hard time if you port without having a PS 3 game in mind when you created the 360 version. That is where a lot of complaints are coming from. They created the 360 engine with a unified memory architecture in mind, with the embedded frame buffer with its advant...
I just download the trailer from the PSN and omg that is going to be an amazing movie. From the trailer I would go as far as saying the best yet. Definately going to have to pick that up on Blu-Ray when it comes out!
Ontopic - Glad to see Sony doing so well. Kind of puts a chink in the doomsayers armor.
Resistance has split screen offline coop but no split screen online.
Jrocks_4_ever - I would not think splitscreen online would be great except maybe if it was 2 on 2 where each side using the split screen.
I have always found split screen to be less immersive for video games and is counter to going big screen HD if you ask me.
Ontopic - Be interesting to see what they reveal. I love skiing games be cool ot have a first person downhill ski racer ...
Its not saying that the PS3 install base will be bigger then the Xbox 360 in a years time. Its saying that currently the Xbox 360 install base is 8 million world wide and they see the PS3 getting to that level or higher by April of 2008 at which time they will release their bigger games for the PS3.
Relax people, both companies are going to do well and that's a good thing for all gamers..even the fanbois.
Nice to see balance. Competition is what is driving the gaming industry and its what we should all encourage. I certainly don't want to see MS, Sony or Nintendo fail. That would be a very bad thing all around if you ask me.
Bladestar - Besides think about this... How come these very lazy developers as you guy are calling them, are making games for the 360 too. Why are they doing a better job at it? Do you think is a conspiracy to make the PS3 look bad?
No but I would suggest that the 360 version of the game was created first and then the developer is porting it over to the PS3. The problem is they are not designing the game from the ground up on the PS3. That said we have seen the results of stu...
This is definately a game I am going to pick up. In a way it reminds me of Farcry. Can't wait to find out more.
Your right he never said it was easy. What he did say was that it doesn't matter if its easy or hard. If your a developer and you choose to develop a game for a specific system you should do your best and quit making excuses. Considering he is a 3rd party developer and this is his first game on the PS3 and its going to be 1080p @60fps with full shadowing, a feat no game has delivered thus far on the PS3, he is delivering on what he is saying.
I agree Sony really needs to have more of this kind of information from developers on what the PS3 is like to work with and what its capable of. That said I am still sure you will have people who will deny and counter until till they are blue in the face. Ultimately it will be the games that will win over the hearts and minds not the details! :)
(((( I can't believe one comment taken out of context could generate so much buzz. Anyone ever thing they did it for that very reason? How about everyone wait until part 3 and hear all that Jaffe had to say and then comment. )))))
I was not the only one btw but it still did not stop the haters from showing up and spouting off. Don't worry guys that egg all over you face will wash off eventually.
But Jaffe's quote was taken out of context to sensationalize the next part of the interview series. Which is what I and many other people had said in that story thread from yesterday.
What a difference a day makes.
Yesterday, internet news sites like Digg.com and GameDaily.biz were on fire with a controversial story in which David Jaffe appeared to recommend dropping Blu-ray from the PlayStation 3. The sites included inflammatory headlines such as "Jaffe: I...
I loved reading this quote from Yosuke Hayashi
GI: What do you think of the PlayStation 3 as a whole, now that you’ve had a chance to work with it?
Hayashi: A lot of developers out there talk about how the PS3 is hard to develop for. And I think that that’s kind of an affront to the fans, because you paid your money and you own a PS3, and you pay the same money for a PS3 game as you would any other game. That’s not really looking at it from a consumer’s perspecti...
Dusk - Yes, every 360 is on broadband, as it's a requirement for online play. It's been this way since the original Xbox. There are those that found a way around it, but the number is so incredibly small that it's probably not even half a percentage point.
Ahh thats interesting I did not know that, thanks for the info.
Dusk - Also, I wouldn't bring up arguments comparing the Sony/PC relationship to the MS/PC relationship. The 360 has such a huge advantage over th...
That said I am rather shocked that so many Sony fans are here dissing Halo 3 and the Halo franchise. This is a big game for Xbox fans as big as FF or MGS for Playstation. To suggest that this game is not going to look good and be a system seller is the same as them making the same claims about FF or MGS. Its BS to say and everyone knows it. I wish everyone would just stop with the hating on both sides. This site would be so much better for it.
My only issue with this artic...
Halo 3 Will Put Xbox 360 Further Ahead of PS3

Halo 3 will not doubt be a system seller for MS. That I don't dispute. However some of his comments in the article are way off.
Rob Enderle - For a console MMOG, the huge advantage is that you can push the hardware to its limits. This is a problem with PCs where you have to assume the lowest common hardware base, which may be a modem and a Pentium 3 with old graphics.
Has this guy even played any recent MMO games? EverQuest 2 gives the ability to allow players...
First eveything that runs on electricity is not bad for the environment. The only thing bad is how the power is created. There are ways to generate electical power that is completely environmently friendly, such as wind power.
The point I was trying to make was that there is a double standard that people on this site find no problem using power to play games but boy if you use it to run a program that helps science then oh boy you have crossed the line!
As to yo...
How so just because I speak the truth? Some people will paint anything Sony does or does not do as being bad. Some even had the nerve to suggest that people particiapating in Folding@Home project was bad for the enviroment and adds to global warming. Funny they don't feel using electricity for entertainment as doing the same thing only when its done to benifit science or maybe help companies do something they couldn't on their own.
Sony has been approached by business to off...
They wouldn't know a good idea unless Microsoft told them one.
Wow dude did you even read the article or is your comprehension just that bad?
JsonHenry - Blu_ray has NOTHING to do with creating a "huge detailed enviroment"!! It is just a storage medium! Idiot.
Lets see Lair is a world 32 kilometers by 32 kilometers that gives you a 20,000 feet view as well as the one meter level view at pretty much the same detail level. Lair streams its geometry and its textures. If you have got enough assets which are streaming,...
