Factor 5's Julian Eggebrecht: You’ll have a hard time if you port without having a PS 3 game in mind when you created the 360 version. That is where a lot of complaints are coming from.

Havok's Jeff Yates: It's changing for sure. I think the PS3 has great potential, but it's a very different kind of architecture. If people build their games with an understanding of what their challenges are going to be with porting between consoles, we can do a lot. In some cases, though, we're se...

I always love guys who talk tech because they talk about stuff the majority of people have no clue about. What you say sounds impressive but only another programmer could counter or know if what your saying is true or not. I saw another post recently and its copied from a post on another site by a guy who is similar to you in that he seems to know what he is talking about, but it does seem to counter what your saying.

Here is what was posted.

""PS3 ne...

Now that I think about it I have experienced this Ultraboost. When I first went online some races I was able to boost for way longer then I had ever been able to before. At the time I thought it was some setting you could select when setting up a race. It only happened a few times and I have not experienced it for awhile now. Since then though I have gone in and set up a race and there is no setting to allow everyone to boost for longer. Seeing it talked about here made me remember it. ...

As I stated in a early post I am not going to argue specs. You seem to keep harping on them so much but have you worked with the PS3? No, so what you have to say about what it can or can't do and its limitations are pure speculation on your part. I am personally getting tired of people who have not worked with the PS3 tell me and other PS3 owners what the system is capable of and also go on to discredit anything anyone who has worked with it as being wrong and talking crap.

Hey Deeprambler, I am curious as to why you changed your name? Hope you don't mind me asking.

Yup the more I find out about Lair the more it becomes a must have game for me.

I am not suprised really. There are only a few games thus far that take advantage of online play. The store is great for a start but Sony needs to give people more of a reason to go online. Home, more games that utilize online play, movie,tv and music download service etc. All this takes time of course.

Yes in order to play online and access the store etc you have to create and account which is part of creating your PSN id.

It must be tough being a developer. You give a interview and people all over the world who have never done programing will comment and tell you what you said was wrong. Some will have done some programming but not for the PS3 yet they feel they are able to comment on developing for the PS3, but how can this guy say its not possible on the 360 when he has never made a game for the 360? See the irony there?

I am not a programmer. When people start talking tech stuff at the le...

I thought the general concensus was that you only needed the larger 120GB drive if you wanted to do things not game related to the Xbox 360. Things like tv and movie downloading etc?

All the major design choices for the PS3 are copied from the 360?

Really that's why the 360 has a hard drive in every SKU? Every SKU for the 360 has HDMI out? Every 360 has a next gen drive built in? Every 360 SKU allows you to upgrade your HDD with any off the shelf 2.5" HD...

If Sony comes out with a larger HDD SKU I would suggest they would do it incombination of a price reduction for the 60GB model.

60GB model then gets dropped to $499 and the new larger HDD model comes in at $599. Since the Xbox Elite is 120GB I would look for the new model to have 120GB+ HDD.

It may also coenside with an announcement from Sony of a new movie,tv and music download service.

Actually Thammer it was Xbox 360 fans saying he was full of crap not PS3 fans. This game better be more fun then Motorstorm? Yeah because we all know how boring and unfun Motorstorm is. <boggle>

As to it looking good all you need to do is look at the video for the game, the walk thru etc. The game looks amazing for alpha. Remember all the Xbox 360 fans saying it was unfair of PS3 fans to judge Halo 3 because it was only alpha? And here we have a PS3 game in Alpha a...

Ahh cool I get it. So console manufactures of the world..don't push your hardware specs the secret to being successful is to create the cheapest console...graphics don't matter, games don't matter it simply comes down to which is cheapest. Makes you wonder then why MS decided to come out with a 3rd SKU thats even more expensive then the core or premium 360 doesn't?

I wonder what precentage of core 360 system have sold compared to the more expensive premium?

Because they looked at the Xbox 360 as a possible platform for this gen of consoles before going with the PS3. Also as everyone has been pointing out for sometime now, the 360 is very similar to programing like a PC. He knows the 360 uses unified memory and an embedded frame buffer, which sounds like what developers are more use to developing with. The only thing that's different for the 360 is the multicore but the memory and embedded frame buffers are stuff prior consoles and PC's have u...

I love how layered the fighting and stuff will be so saying all you do is fly around shooting fireballs how boring, is really not true. This game pushed things more then anything I have seen yet on any console thus far. 32 km x 32 km world with a 20,000ft ceiling and the detail is just as good at 20,000 ft as it is up close. Simply amazing then you add in the water effects, the shear number of ground fighters, number of dragons etc in the air, all the fire effects, ships floating and bobbi...

is good thing David Jaffe is not at the helm of Sony. One of the main reason I purchased a PS3 was because it also included a Blu-ray player. I still don't get where people have this idea that if you decided to start enjoying Blu-ray that this means you have to replace your existing DVD movie collection. I am hoping that Sony does a firmware patch that enables the PS3 to upscale my DVD movies to 1080p. If not then I will get a stand alone player that does it so I don't have to repurchase ...

You think they are going to sell the hardware and not get a cut of the software sales? Also just because some may choose to download the software does not mean everyone will. Some like to have a physical copy of the game or movie on disc. SOE has been using digital distribution for years now but they still release at retail as well. They even give gamers virtual items that can be used in game if they buy at retail something not offered via digital download.

Just because a n...

First its a preview not a review. Second your exagerating, the only preview of the game was a post a day ago from IGN and its nice for people to get different impression from gaming sites like Gamespot, so I think even though you might not be interested other like myself will be. There have been alot of Lair video, screenshots and a developer interview over the last day or 2 but nothing before that. The article is unique and not a duplicate story and I think it sets a dangerous president i...

First off Factor 5 is not a 1st party developer for Sony neither is Insomniac. See they are independately owned and operated studios that choose to only work on the PS3, so that makes them second party developers not first. Much the same as Team Ninja was a second party developer for MS until they decided to make games for the PS3 as well so now they are considered a third party developer. Even they (Team Ninja) have had good things to say about the PS3. So its just not Sony owned develop...

Its not a case of power its case of design. From my understanding if you create your game engine where it uses the split mem on the PS3 its easy to modify the engine afterwords to run on the 360 unified memory but if you try and take your game engine which is designed to use unified memory and then make it run using the PS3 split memory your in for a world of pain.

Most games that come out on multiple system rarely ever are the ones that push the hardware like exclusives do an...
