For many programs theres an free alternative. For Photoshop needs you can use GIMP which is pretty good but needs a bit re-learning. There are other too tough.
But theres no real need to uninstall windows if there are some programs you need for work. Ubuntu can be dual booted with windows vista quite nicely.

whats bad about it being linux? the point is that its handled by Google? The fact alone that its handled by google could really boost the support from developers not to mention that many google fans might actually jump in to linux wagon.
Yeah, imo its a mistake to build your operating system around a browser and a bad browser at that.
The reason why Linux is way better designed in this chase you don't need a browser to download any programs or browsers(just use package manager that has most of the programs that matter). Not to mention that there is actually competition even between graphical user interfaces so need to build the gui around a browser.
Google has pretty powerfull brand name nowdays. If they start making operating systems which work well and are even nearly as well supported by developers as windows now it could sign a problem for microsoft.
But to kill? Dunno about that Microsoft could just stand up and start taking the os market more seriously after getting competition.

Haven't used Mac:s but the image that I have gotten from their products is that they are like "all in one packages". They give you computer that can run their operating system. The computer they give you might be a overpriced but many seem to buy it for the operating system.
Using linux myself so I prefer "PC", but MAC:s do look quite nice and they seem to work for so if ppl want to buy a computer that they can be sure it work.

XP shutdowns vary quite a lot, on clean install it doesn't take all too long for the computer to shut down. But I have ran in to this kind of problems even with xp, but not as often as with vista.
No its not, its only the way windows handless its applications. If windows cant shut down program properly it should kill it or something similar. No other operating systems suffer from this so how can we blame the applications?

I got plenty of programs installed in my Ubuntu, yet it only takes only few seconds for the computer to shut down. Reboot happens withing 2-3mins (including log on)
So its not fault of the programs but the way Windows handless its programs :)
Dunno about Ps3 linux but I got my Pc plugged in with VGA and resolution set to 1280x765 (oslt). Its as clear as any computer using that resolution, the screen is just a lot bigger :3

Not with its current price which is very expensive around my region. its like 1000€ here now. Mainly because you cant buy it seperatly. (only trough some phone service providers deal that makes you pay something like 25€ a month for 4-5 years)
I havent seen a single iPhone in my area, so they really need to boost up the availablility for some countries. But then again, many just prefer nokia as its finnish invented product.
