At this moment the right team is winning. And you are right, it does feel pure. I actually get the feeling Sony care about games, gamers and developers.
The best way to keep your customers is to offer quality and value for money!
It may be more due to the fact that if not this week then by next week or the week after the PS4 will be leading the way this gen.
Numbers can be disputed but the overall trend is hard to argue against.
The great battle here will be for 2nd place between the Wiiu and XB1.
Nice one. Way to start the weekend with the funniest post on this thread. Top marks!
Gaming consoles are unlike nearly every other electronic device that you usually swap for upgraded models every 1-2 years. They are made to last for 5-10 years.
Both XB1 and PS4 will mature.
This thread is congratulating Sony on their success at gaming. When I use my PS4 everything about it is an amazing experience and such a step up. I am waiting for more media options like the PS3 has - but we can all still use our 7th Gen consoles as well.
This is great for Sony. Just remember back to when they released the PS3 with the very complex cell chip. Their wheels nearly came off their wagon.
What did they do? They learnt from their mistakes, learnt from Microsoft's success and concentrated on games and gamers. Now they produce a console with developers and gamers in mind to create amazing gaming moments.
Whichever gaming machine you use there can be no denying that Sony have deserved this success....
You serious?
I too platinumed all three but love playing them again from time to time. To see the original Uncharted in full PS4 glory with the new controller would be something special.
BUT - How easy is it to take a 360 or PS3 game and transform it to full next gen quality? I guess it depends upon the quality of the original coding.
It would take a big effort to get all 3 with the quality we all expect from ND. We shall see...
Amazing amount for Japan. Great numbers so early in its lifetime.
In Japan a system seems to sell like crazy each time a good game comes out for that platform. They have some amazing sales spikes.
Interesting to see what happens over the next 3-4 weeks in Japan. Now the PS4 can distribute more units across the other countries again for more sales spikes.
Still one thing that bothers me: If the XB1 is being produced at the same rate as the PS4...
Developers have already mentioned that they create better graphics resolutions during testing and then shrink these down to a best fit for each specific platform.
Nothing new here...
Japan sales should push the PS4 to 6 million (to the customer) by the end of Feb and 7 million by end of March. The XB1 will of sold 3 - 3.5 million in that time (to the customer).
Begs the question: If MS are producing XB1 at the same rate Sony is producing the PS4 (as claimed by MS before release) then where are all the unsold XB1s?
Don't be so sure. Microsoft are filthy rich!
They need price cuts, redesign for smaller box and more focus on XB1 features rather than trying in vain to convince gamers XB1 is as powerful as the PS4.
They went for a niche market but have not advertised that way yet.
They should of waited until 2014 to release and then made changes to the GPU/esram to at least match the PS4.
XB1 biggest mistake? Too quick to market!
I hate to keep repeating myself but..
XB1 needs a system seller whilst the PS4 is a system that sells!
If it was that smart they would of set the initial release price much lower!
They have their backs towards the wall right now. News of so many consoles unsold is bad news all around. They need to shift their stock pile real fast or risk a disaster.
They cannot keep producing at the same rate as the PS4 if they are selling only 1/3 to 1/4 each month. Let's take this for what it is - the first real signs of desperation!!
They do not need to - they HAVE to!
The XB1 is in danger of becoming the next WiiU. So soon after its release will be a bitter pill for those who bought it from day one.
How bad will things have to get before they match the PS4 price?
And so it starts....
In the UK the 360 was always sold at a cut price. They were making money from the subscriptions.
I would say £30 is daft. Makes you wonder why they did not release at this price. Many more cuts will follow and across the board too. First they will sell with zero profit to get more market share, then they will start selling at a loss.
They have to do something!
Personally, I would stop pretending to b...
We have got to give praise to developers for sticking to their convictions and pimping all the PS4 versions of games.
Great to get this out of the way so early in the next gen life. 6 months from now we will just take it as given that PS4 versions will be the strongest console version.
Then we can all get on with enjoying the games on our console of choice...
It is Microsoft. They have billions to spend whenever they please. They will always prop up their big names.
Whether they support gaming in the future is another question...
The trend for this next gen seems to be:
No.1 PS4
No.2 WiiU vs XB1
in terms of sales and more than likely great exclusives. But I think the XB1 will have some great games too. MS have to follow Sony with 1st Party development just to keep in second place.
Now wonder Microsoft are so eager for Titanfall - they need a system seller. Whereas the PS4 IS a system that sells!
Great for gaming that the company who puts deve...
Anyone else noticed how VCGChartz have took off 2 million from the PS3 global sales?
They were at nearly 82 million a few months ago and have been selling more than the 360 every month world wide.
Now their 2+ million lead over the 360 has been wiped and they have the PS3 sales at below 81 million!!!
Conspiracy theories abound - or have the MS dollars landed?
Barely legal.
Shows desperation.
Scared of PS3?
Embarrassing.
Final throw of the dice?
Does anyone really know what they are doing at Microsoft's gaming division?
Shall we show all the great features and games our new console has? No! Lets pretend to the world we have equal graphics power and lets do our best to throw money around even at Playstation owners from last gen...
I have to agree. I bought my PS3 after seeing an in-store 15min demo of MGS4. It blew my mind. There were things in that demo I never knew were possible.
