Far from calling it quits is a bit of an understatement.
Playstation is still going strong will continue to do so.
Playstation is probably the only brand that could have survived a $600 launch fiasco.
Isn't Sony outselling MS worldwide by a big margin?
Oh well, it wouldn't be n4g without the sony doom articles.
It's a Naughty Dog game. Quality is pretty much guaranteed.
ND is Sony's flagship developer. You can be sure TLOU will get it's fair share of marketing. It will sell just as good as Uncharted.
Hmmmm ok so the company that's been the most successful the past 3 gens should quit?
PS1 = 100 mil - destroys weak competition
PS2 = 160 mil and counting - destroys weak competition and still destroying it
PS3 = 65 mil and counting - selling at faster pace than 360, got outsold by Nintendo(a great long time competitor)
Sony is gearing up for the future with gakai which might be a part of a futre "exit strategy" for hardware. But...
Great news for Sony and gamers worldwide.
I wonder how long before the "Sony's Gakai will fail" articles come out in droves. The media can't have too many positive Sony articles after all.
And I wonder how long before the media make it seem like Microsoft are the ones pushing cloud gaming? lol
Interesting if true.
Glad to see Sony planning for the future like this. If they can make this work well for Android and find a way to monetize it fairly and still profit, this could be pretty huge.
Android + IOS = a gigantic audience for the Playstation platform.
Haters have been going hard lately.
Pretty funny to watch.
Sorry folks but Sony's not going anywhere.
The Vita's only issue is price and negative hype. So many haters, media included want it to fail.
Lot's of cheap/ignorant people out there. For some reason $250 is too much for an advanced piece of tech, yet the same idiots will go out and shell out $600 for an Ipad 2 which has inferior specs.
Once the price hit's $199 or $179 it should do way better. Also the memory cards need to come way down in price.
There's no doubt the entire Sony group has been doing bad financially but Playstation is one of their bright spots.
Here's an interesting article highlighting Sony's (and Japans)financials:
http://www.bloomberg.com/ne...
The article basically says Sony has 8 billion in cash reserves. The...
A positive Sony article??
Wtf is goin on?
Xbox trolls in 5,4,3,2,1.... lol
Not gonna happen. Sony needs to launch quickly after the next Xbox.
People won't be satisfied until you can plug your mind into a machine ala The Matrix and "play" in a virtual reality.
Even though I have no interest in the Wii U, I want Ninty to succeed. They give Sony good competition and will keep them on their toes and gamers will benefit because of it.
Same goes for MS. I will probably never buy a MS console since
all they have is Halo, but I like how they keep Sony in check and force them to compete.
I'm quite happy with this trinity that console gaming has going on.
LOL
Must be talking about "The Last Of US".
Sony needs to make the PS4 with the $399 price point in mind.
As long as it's more powerful than the Wii U and on par with Durango people will buy it. Launching quickly after, or before the next xbox would also be a good idea.
Did Nintendo drop out when N64 failed miserably against PS1? Nope. They still came out with Gamecube, which was destroyed by PS2. Then they came out with Wii, which outsold PS3.
Did MS drop out when they got and are still being destroyed by PS2? Nope.
Sony's not going anywhere haters.
Sorry haters but the Playstation brand isn't going anywhere.
PS1 - 100mil
PS2 - 160miL
PS3 - 66mil and still going strong(will probably surpass Wii and 360 in it's lifetime)
There's alot of butthurt fanboys of other consoles out there.
This article was definitely written by a Sony hater.
"Sony has the most challenges heading into the next generation".. maybe true financially but I have a feeling they'll have the most new IPs and exclusives out of the big three.
MS pretty much only has Halo now that Epic will go multipat.
All other multiplats will also be on PS4 and PC.
Technically yes. The PS3/Vita absolutely destroys the WiiU/tablet combo simply because the Vita is %100 percent portable and the Wii U tablet isn't.
Practically, Nintendo's WiiU wins because it's specifically designed for the tablet controller. I doubt any games will even be made for the ps3/Vita controller aspect.
Sony should just stop with this PR nonsense, it's not stopping the die hard Nintendo fans from getting the WiiU.
I'll be only really worried if Sony blows their 13 trillion yen cash reserves.
