PlayStationLifestyle is sharing the story of the Digital Foundry review of Hogwarts Legacy. There's a little story behind all this... The DF staff refused to review it so its editor Richard Leadbetter stepped in. Whilst he made clear he strongly disagrees with 'the creator' he explained that a journalist's job is to review.

This would be such a great full game for PS VR2.
Gamespot has done a 180, likely for the controversy.
When you’re not reviewing the quality of the game but scoring down to make a political statement then you’re being unethical and not being honest with your readership.
Don’t ever trust them again, don’t give them your clicks, or your views, don’t approve their stories - it’s a simple as that.
Tom Warren is the Microsoft dedicated reporter. He has a history of reporting MS leaks from information he received 'off the record.' This is a problem because it means the political agenda-driven tech website is reporting on stories, often DIRECTLY from a company, and not able to say where it received information from. The problem with this is that it leaves companies like, for a hypothetical example, Microsoft able to manipulate staff and impose conditions eg, 'You can break the...

@Knushwood Butt: "So, the 18% is for Series X, and not Series S"
Your comment has highlighted a detail that is often obscured from the public. Microsoft doesn't release Xbox sales figures so we have to use other figures to give us an indication of their install base.
Many times in the UK boxed chart where the PS5 significantly outsells the Xbox Series consoles edition GamesIndustry.biz explains that the platform sales ratio number is disproportionate...
Why have last-gen pussy when you can have next-gen pussy?
I think Starfield WILL deliver.
But it's incorrect to say that the Xbox platform's fortunes rest on this single game.
I’ve read the document pages and this article seems to have misunderstood the context…
What it says is that big publishers don’t put their most valuable AAA titles on subscription services for fear of cannibalisation. If the merger DOESN’T go ahead Activision is unlikely to release Call of Duty day and date on release on subscription services. It may be open to adding its lesser titles to subscription services, but if the merger goes ahead it would be MORE likely to add Ca...
Who gives a monkey’s? The Gamer is posting this story like some it’s a big anti-Hogwarts Legacy win, after it’s part in a cancel campaign failed - but it’s not. The development team may have had anything between 150 to 300 people, they are all individuals and will have their own views on everything including which political party to vote for and on J.K.Rowling too - that’s okay and normal!
I’ve worked at a very large media company with a strong public voice and staff views...
Everyone's free to feel however they want about J.K. Rowling and to express that. But when reviewing a game the review should be about the game, the experience, to communicate to readers information so they can make an informed buying choice. For the Digital Trends blogger Giovanni Colantonio to downgrade a game because of his aforementioned misogynistic feelings about J.K. Rowling is a dereliction of duty and betrayal of the values of journalism which is to inform -not to educate or infl...
People judge value for money differently.
Some people are happy to pay $70 for Redfall. Some people are happy to pay $70 for Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom. Are any of these games worth the price of entry? YOU decide.
Two Kotick interviews in a short period of time, this is definitely a PR blitz to put pressure on the regulators.
British regulator the CMA has made clear that it doesn't believe it is a good idea for Microsoft to have Call of Duty. It has made some suggestions (via VGC) to allow the deal to go through that include: Selling off Call of Duty or selling off Activision. There is now time for Microsoft to respond with remedies to the CMA's concerns.
GamesIndustry.biz: "The CMA found that 24% of Call of Duty PlayStation gamers said they would leave Sony's console if Xbox m...
He’s concerned. If the deal goes ahead I would think he will make multiple hundred millions of dollars. The CMA are not concerned about that kind of threat.
@Lexreborn2 a person can be a fan of a franchise (such as Batman) but this doesn’t mean they will love every game about it (such as Gotham Knights) - that’s not the same as a person who is supposedly a professional journalist condemning J.K. Rowling and after complaining about her saying of Hogwart’s Legacy ‘It is a shame that the game can’t escape this context.’ This means she will be making the game down for it.
I was seriously going to buy this. I know websites can be over generous with grading indie games, and Season has received its fair share of perfect scores. But this review offers another perspective and explains why, a job well done.
Just wait for the Microsoft buyout and all these games will be included free with Game Pass.
@Orchard There's currently no evidence to support that claim at all. The reason Sony taking a smaller margin from Call of Duty sales is relevant to the CMA investigation is because it highlights how important Sony feel the franchise is to PlayStation that it will willingly give up some of its share of profits.
