i think that good stories are harder to come across in games nowadays because
a) a lot of resources are dedicated to the growing demand for graphical enhancement. Less money dedicated to storywriters when you need an entire armada of animators and graphic specialists just to have a decent looking game.
b) just like the movies...we're running out of stories to tell. you can't really do a new subject without someone else before you having done it bef...
