Jaffe speaks out on the industry.
Molyneux is a cool guy, but promises the world EACH AND EVERY GAME, then usually fails to deliver, and basically does it all over again.
Once Jaffe starts promising his next game to be the holy grail, then your post will have merit.
"In many ways, the work of a critic is easy. We risk very little yet enjoy a position over those who offer up their work and their selves to our judgment. We thrive on negative criticism, which is fun to write and to read. But the bitter truth we critics must face is that, in the grand scheme of things, the average piece of junk is more meaningful than our criticism designating it so." - Anton Ego
And I feel they are well within their right to. The review system out there is broken. It needs to change. Cgoodno's post below is a prime example of how money drives it, like any other business.
Hah, those who cannot create, whine.
I always thought the idea of an outsider "critique" to be rather... silly. Throw in review scores, and its even more stupid. IMHO.
Does no one replay games for fun any more?
Reboot it, or just stop. Please.
Also, its time for ZOE3.
I would seriously buy ALL of those listed, and ZOE.
All 4 of my holiday purchases are in October.
Shit.
Local coop = win.
I'd actually be more inclined to blame it on the engine itself before the hardware. Unless of course their new IP shows the same trademark, then it's just "their style."
And yet I still feel their worlds are rather barren and empty. They make it work for their artstyle, but compare it to the density of say.. CoD4? It just feels lacking to me (but again, not bad looking).
Gamers are also asking for far more complex games, full of complex visuals and systems, yet on a similar if not shorter time table than the past. More content = more chances for things to break. Compared to how big games are today, well, the amount of "mistakes" made I feel are relatively trivial most times.
No game is perfect, and even devs that care will miss something. I think a big issue is in the past, gamers used to look upon glitches as a matter of nerdy prid...
How about game content cut due to production time or budget reasons (it happens to EVERY game), and then saved from oblivion as DLC?
Not EVERY studio cuts things JUST to put it in DLC you know.
Dear Capcom - Stop trying to "westernize" everything then and get back to making gems like DMC3.
Well said. Negativity abound!
Not your concern? I can't believe the constantly damning attitude of some gamers. They demand the best, but once valid reasons for why prices are the way they are arise, they say tough.
Most devs ARE working harder to bring costs down. But devs don't control inflation, or the cost of software/hardware to make games.
Gaming prices as a whole have probably inflated the LEAST out of the entertainment industry.
Sorry I should clarify. For those actually seeking information, yes it can be a useful tool. The problem is, far too many people look at just the damn score, and not the actual information contained within. And considering Meta chooses not only what sites to include, but the weighting of the score... I find that rather lame. I mean look at the thread here... people have more issue with the score than the content of the review.
So I guess my beef is more with people who treat ...
CoD4 > Halo 2 >>>> everything else, IMHO
I really wish people would stop caring "if its on Meta" or not.
Meta is a joke.
It's a Don Reisinger "article." I used to think he was just a biased fanboy. Now I know he's just a biased troller of gaming.
