Sadly, we're in a generation where many gamers shout loudest on forums, crying out for new IP, innovation, or sequels to titles long since beyond their prime... but when push comes to shove, rarely do people actually go out and BUY said games. Child of Eden anyone?
=(
I can't wait. I really hope they knock this one out of the park.
Un-death?
Day 1 buy for me. I really hope this title goes beyond the ending of the first however. I want to see what happens next!
Why do gamers need something new every second, when chances are they have games they haven't finished yet? Summer is backlog/replay time, IMHO. Get those Achievements/Trophies, and play those titles you've meant to check out that are on sale!
That's awesome Chewy, and I hope the game meets with the critical and fan acclaim it deserves.
Great game, but after MGS2, I still wanted to see what happened NEXT. Finding it was a prequel was maddening, despite how great a game it was.
Anyone else not a fan of prequels? I'd like to see the franchise continue to drive forward personally.
"Especially when they know how well Gears 3 will be received compared to their big name IP that releases around the same time with a number 3 after it. "
You mean that while it may sell slightly less than Gears 3, it will utterly annihilate it when it comes to awards and critical acclaim just like its predecessor? See how round and round it goes with the BS?
Cool. Both of those franchises deserve respect and are of insane quality and entertainment v...
Shhh, let'em squabble.
I haven't seen that much hype, just Beta talk lately. Especially when compared to other fall titles. Though I'm fully expecting to see UC3 be reviewed as better, yet score lower.
I just want them to leave the health alone! No massive rebalancing like they did to UC2 please!
Now, bring on the Starhawk beta, haha.
I appreciate though that they're trying to bring in new people to the MP, without modifying the core modes to do so. Other games have made that mistake and suffered for it I think.
It's a tough balancing act appeasing the fans, keeping it fresh, and also bringing in new people!
Wow, that's damn impressive, especially considering it's June!
MSXboxworld talking about Uncharted only proves what an amazing franchise it is, natch.
Sales? Close, but Gears will sell more.
Critical acclaim? Well, U2 wiped the floor utterly with Gears 2 (which is still a great game, despite a lame last boss).
Perception of value, which varies from person to person, doesn't change the reality of gaming not following inflation seen in other markets.
I rather hate analogies, as they are all flawed, but why is it ok to pay $14 for a movie ticket for a 2 hour show, but $60 for a 10 hour game is out of the question?
So again, what is "unfair" about a title releasing at $60?
How isn't it "fair" to launch at $60. Consider the price of EVERYTHING has gone up, yet over the past 20 years, game prices have remained stable. Ever compare what you pay to go to the movies today with 1990? Yeah...
Game development costs have ballooned into the tens of millions, yet games are STILL only around $60.
1) Leave health alone.
2) Get power weapons on the map.
3) Leave health alone.
4) Don't rebalance the whole game 2 months into its life.
5) Leave the health alone.
Agreed. I'm excited for this game.
