How do you suggest they test things on this scale then? If they DIDN'T have a beta, we'd have the Gears 2 situation all over again.
The problem is, this seems to be a TRUE beta, testing server load. With so many companies using betas as demos lately, whenever a true beta hits, it's reacted to poorly due to issues meant to be fixed by, you guessed it, beta testing. We need to stop treating betas as demos IMHO.
If you're going to slap a score on something, that often dictates a publisher bonus or reimbursement to the developer once it hits Metacraptic, you better goddamn well finish the full goddamn game. Enough of this half assed "We're FIRST! EXCLUSIVE!" crap.
SPOILERS
What more do you need? Dormin was split into multiple colossi to hold his power in check. You kill them, release him, he corrupts you. The priests do their best to purify you, but it's obvious that your bloodline is now tainted.... leading to the horned cursed boys in Ico.
Done and done.
Games today really aren't challenging though for the most part. Hell, even Gears 3 practically plays itself on Normal mode. Why? Because gaming has gone mainstream, and people feel entitled to see the ending for their $60 instead of earning it.
I wanna know why 360 exclusives aside from Gears and Halo only sell as much as Ps3 exclusives, yet only the PS3 exclusives are considered "flops" by the media?
Can we stop this shit yet?
Most people don't finish games though. The "mainstream gamer," frankly, has no skills. I too wish games were harder. This is NOT a knock on Gears 3, but did you see that on Normal, the game practically plays itself? People feel entitled to seeing the ending with their $60.
Gears 3 - reviews claim to be best Gears yet. Scores lower than Gears 1 and 2.
Resistance 3 - reviews claim to be best Resistance yet. Scores lower than R1 and R2.
Quick, let's compare review scores and not content! go go go!
So now aliens are bad?
Dead Island - wow more zombies. Haven't seen that before.
Gears 3 - wow more monsters. Haven't seen that before.
C'mon.
How the hell do you get "PS4 release doubtful" from this crap? Wow N4G, keep hitting new lows with approvals plz.
I've heard this with every PS3 exclusive released. And each time, they end up selling fine, and on par with most other exclusive titles this gen. Gotta love trollin for hits. N4G really does submit nothing but trash.
When you go to walmart or sears or ikea to buy a lamp... Are they pushing the used lamp the week of release though?
A game "worth hanging on to" is absolutely subjective though. Many devs have tried it, and they are met with cries of "tacked on MP," even when its done pretty damn well.
I would believe the innovation argument, if other run of the mill sequels weren't handed 9.5's and 10's like they were going out of style.
Same thing happened to R3.
Reviews good.
Review scores archaic. been sayin this for years, the system holds too much sway and is too much based on both whim and bias.
I too find it odd that better sequels are often given lower scores...
I do believe shipped, aka sell-in, is indicative of interest in the title by stores. A large sell-in can indicate retailers expect high sales. Sell-thru is what is sold to consumers.
Also, lulz vgchartz.
Hah, I'll keep that in mind as well. Can't wait for Starhawk... can't stand elitest douche reviewers. Bubbs for both you guys btw.
I can see where the issue comes from though. So many companies have turned Betas into glorified demos, that personally, I think it's hurting what a BETA actually is for.
