I'm not an Xbox fan, I'm a gaming fan.
And no, I'm not excited about Kinect either.
I respectfully disagree.
They weren't trying to screw anyone over or "rape anyone's wallet".
They were trying to make a different product than every other previous games console. Something that had different benefits and features, and worked differently than what we are accustomed to.
Sadly, everyone got their panties in a bunch and they changed their mind, now we have two consoles that are awfully similar to each other, i...
Jesus, THANK YOU, nukeitall.
That is the most sensible thing I've read on N4G in days.
Here's to hoping that they bring it all back in regards to digital purchases, even if they leave the disc based stuff the way it is.
I'm perfectly happy to live in the future while everyone else happily gets their 3 dollar Gamestop credit so they can buy a used copy of CoD: BlOps 5 for 52 dollars.
And with that said, sadly I am...
This author is assigning a definition to the phrase "Next Gen" that isn't accurate.
"Next Gen" doesn't mean a jump in graphics, and it has nothing to do with innovation.
Next Gen means literally what it says. It's the Next console Generation after the current one.
ANY game that comes out for a PS4 and Xbox One is Next Gen, even if it is an ugly piece of crap that could have been made on an NES.
Lord Maim, please tell me how easy it is to disconnect the camera from your cell phone, or from a laptop computer?
The answer is that you can't do it, and the chance of those items being used to spy on you is probably more likely than with Kinect. Don't forget that your phone also most likely has a GPS in it, so they can track where you are as well as listening to you and watching you.
How anyone worries about this crap is beyond me. I can't even...
Agreed, I don't see the point of what it can do that a button can't do.
And it's in such an awkward place to be used for anything other than bringing up a menu or pausing the game...
I'll wait and see what they come up with, but I don't have high hopes.
Blastoise, you really might want to, because like it or not, this is the future. Maybe it won't happen this console generation, but you can bet your ass it will in the next one.
And it won't just be "big bad Microsoft" doing it next time.
You might even see some of this generation on both consoles. Let me throw a little hypothetical situation at you.
What is to stop EA or Activision or any publisher deciding a year from no...
Blastoise, I can't speak for everyone, but they didn't give me a middle finger at all.
They gave me a bunch of cool features and options, some of which are gone now because everyone threw a fit about something that would have little or no impact on them.
We never even gave them time to explain exactly how used games were going to be handled. It just amazes me how up-in-arms people are over this.
Is that 3 dollars you get for a trade ...
Thanks H0RSE, I appreciate the backup.
And you have it exactly right. People see Kinect as this separate thing that you don't need, because in the past, that is how it has always been with a device like that.
The problem is, that is the wrong way to look at it. It is a part of the system. As much as the controller that you will hold in your hand.
Whether every game or app takes advantage of it is not the point, it is a part of the syst...
There are no "fanboy" comments being made here, Superman.
I'm simply stating that the two incidents are quite simply not on the same level.
I'm not saying XBL is perfect and incapable of being breached because quite honestly there is no such thing. XBL might be getting hacked right now for all I know, I'm just going on what we know from the past.
lmao, they didn't try to screw anyone over.
They tried to be a little different than the competition and everyone threw a tantrum, so they changed.
I don't get all the fuss about it.
@Bubblesman
Honestly I have no idea what the extra cost was, but you are obviously correct, it wasn't like 8,000 dollars, so the percentage is obviously not the same. lol
I was just using it as an example.
I could also go with something like a Cable company's channel packages and channels that I don't want, but have to get in order to get the ones I do want. That would probably turn out to be a more accurate thing in terms of p...
@gaelic_laoch
What does that even mean?
Freedom of choice?
Whose choice? Microsoft is building a product and selling a service.
They can design both of those things however they want, presumably however they think will make them the most profit.
YOU have the choice to buy or not buy their product and/or their service. YOU don't get to pick and choose how their service is designed, nothing in the world w...
Hammad, if no credit card info was accessed in the breach, then why did they give everyone a free subscription to an Identity Theft Protection service?
I would think it to be HIGHLY unlikely, but they haven't said anything about it yet.
iamnsuperman, comparing a few users getting their accounts taken over to an entire network being breached, exposing user's passwords and credit card info in the process is a bit of stretch, don't you think?
I know you're a PS fanboy and all, but c'mon... really?
Well, see that's the thing, Underworld.
The XB1 and Kinect are one and the same and can't be taken apart.
You either want the whole package or you don't.
When I bought a new Wrangler a few months ago, in order to get the features I wanted, I also had to get Sirius satellite radio. I didn't want Sirius, I'll never use Sirius, but it was part of the package.
I didn't bitch about Sirius being "shove...
If you want to generalize it that much, why not say "I don't see how they can call it an all in one system when it doesn't make coffee and toast"?
It plays GAMES.
Just because it doesn't play games from a different console is not a negative feature.
Thank You!
Holy Christ, if you ACTUALLY cover your Vita camera with a sticker out of fear of getting spied on I'm going to laugh my ass off for days.
Please tell me you are just joking, omg.
LMFAO what is wrong with you people??
