Chrono Trigger was best known for its SNES release vs the PS One port, but anyways. That’s a bold statement to even compare the two. Chrono Trigger was built by a dream team at the golden age of gaming. Hard to remake that sort of recipe, but I’m excited to find out if it brings back some of that magic.
This looks excellent. Excited to play this with the Beyond.
Agreed. Valve made a lot of smart choices with the Deck to maximize efficiency vs raw performance - the screen resolution included. It’s sharp enough to be a good experience but the fill rate is easy to hit for most games at good performance. If it had an OLED I’d basically have zero complains
Fresnel lenses let significantly more light through to the eyes than pancake lenses do. That’s one of the main selling points of PSVR2 - it is significantly brighter at the eye than most other headsets, and with the OLED blacks it makes the contrast very intense and realistic. A worthy trade IMO. The filter they put on the panels to hide the screen door effect and thus having a shimmer/sparkle texture that is sometimes annoying is the bigger downside.
The “how” part is easy. They spent a few billion and bought the company. It was still going to come to XBOX before, too. I hope it was worth it, because it seems to me they’re closing in on $100B in acquisitions just to say “it’s no longer on PlayStation”. Those massive expenses are going to come out somewhere and it’s not going to be pretty.
I do, depending on what the value proposition is. For Switch, yeah, I’ll buy a mobile copy of Skyrim for $50 to play on the go. With SteamDeck and such around now the argument is changing but for me, as long as they find ways to restore the value with enhancements and such, I’ll sometimes not feel bad about a restored price tag. Great games are great despite age.
I’d rather not see watered down cloud streamed versions of Sony’s IP on mobile. Thank you very much. Sometimes just because you can, doesn’t mean you should tarnish the brand for a quick buck.
It’s their entire motive right now though. MS / XBOX is almost entirely service based on some level already. Look at Windows 11 (service), MS Office (365 service), XCloud, GamePass. Why not force their primary IP to be services too. It seems crazy except they’ve already shown their commitment to that model with something as huge as Windows OS. The plan they had with XBOX One always on that folks pushed back on so hard is still coming to pass - they just drip fed it until everyone was stu...
Welcome to the future of XBOX first party. Expect more of this forced subscription GaaS requirement thanks to the popularity of GamePass with the XBOX community. All those cheap monthly fees come at a price. I hope it was worth it to trade some of the biggest IP MS had for watered down IP being doled out as services and MT’s.
Mobile is terrible for almost anything. Small screen, pathetic controls. Count me out. He just sees a chance for more subs.
In other words they want to buy them up and stuff their game on GamePass before they get too big / successful.
First party. More like purchased exclusive. This game was most of the way through development long before the acquisition. So yeah, I expect no less of NS than to pop out more of these already in the pipe games and claim they are new XBOX games only possibly thanks to their hardware and leadership.
This is continuing to look desperate and pathetic. Another timed deal.
That’s awesome, well deserved. I love my Steam Deck. Steam OS is fantastic at this point. I can do almost anything on Deck with desktop mode that I use my normal laptop for. Since launch it has constantly improved. One of my favorite devices ever
Good. I hope the more of the industry MS buys up, the more the rest of the industry shuns them. They’re in a distant third place and are trying to win their place in a creative focussed market in the most despicable ways possible. Talentless acquisitions should not be responded to with loyalty.
XBOX hardware sales are down 13%, not because it’s the fastest console on the market. Releasing an even faster device when the game selection is generally poor is just throwing money at the wrong problem - Microsoft seems to be all too familiar with this for at least the last 10 years.
Okay, this is a nice move. I love me some original GOW before the franchise got sold. GOW 2 is the reason I bought an XBOX 360c and it’s still amazing multiplayer.
Cool story. Revenue growth expected as they blow $75Billion on losses to shrink competition hoping to recoup over the next decade. Good strategy.
It’s a great time to be a mobile PC gamer. Deck is more bang for the buck IMO, and a much more seamless/efficient play experience on the go (dual track pads are amazing). From what I’ve seen ROG Ally is great if battery life and cost are no concern though, it is a nice bump faster and turned out to be a great device too. I can’t wait to see how this segment of the PC space evolves.
As a space exploration experience, it’s like No Mans Sky Jr. As a linear campaign experience, it’s Bethesda+, or, slightly better than No Man’s Sky.
