@darth : You're correct.
Justin can convince himself his PS fanboyism, and biased journalism, is okay until the cows come home -- you will never convince him.
If Microsoft offered EVERY GAME from the XBox 360 library this month, they would lose, by Justin's reasoning. Ponder that for a bit
No, they didn't. You're thinking of MGS: Ground Zeroes and Phantom Pain. Sony has never offered MGR through PS+. Go look it up.
Maybe you're thinking of Witness, which was offered by Games with Gold a while back.
The "problem" is not that the PS5 will be incapable of doing PS4 BC... The PS4 is perfectly capable of running PS2, PSP, and PS1 BC, but Sony's choice is to not offer emulation. They bought the source code to the PS1 emulator that runs on the PSP and PS3, and it's perfectly capable of running on the PS4...
The problem is money. They want to sell you a remake, not upscale the original. The make money on the former, and not on the latter. The same will b...
What would you say if Sony were to state that the PS5 would function primarily as a streaming platform?
@NarutoFox
The PS5 will not improve the infrastructure of Sony's online services. It's not the PS4 that's the problem here -- it's perfectly capable of streaming 1080p.. if it had the service bandwidth to do so.
@S2KillInit
As I stated above, this is a Sony problem, and thus Microsoft and Google have them beat by a wide margin, just because they already have the infrastructure to support huge amounts of gaming bandwidt...
I agree with you, AND this article
Back compat is not needed, unless you pay Sony $10/month for it. They have already proven that PS fans will bow to them and pay for streaming BC, rather than having the real thing.
$$$ in Sony's pocket -- they will not give it for free with the PS5. Why would they? They are a business, and their worshippers are willing to pay.
Bungie Is too full of themselves to make a decent game, these days. Activision is smart for stepping away -- Bungie overcharges and underdelivers. They spent $1 billion of Activision's money on Destiny 1+2, if the original agreement has been completed! No WAY has it made that back.
PS4 will *never* pass PS2.
Anyone who thinks otherwise is... well, they might be happy in the moment, I suppose. Still, stop it, that's just not good for you.
This is like asking Sony for SOCOM back without bringing back Zipper.
"First off just b/c you can play them all on your Xbox One doesn't mean they are all worth playing"
Holy cow. Have you even played some of the garbage they give us as PS+ games each month? The Cross-play titles are often *underneath* the bottom of the barrel, when it comes to actual value. They are garbage that literally couldn't sell by any other means than to have Sony buy the right to hand it out for a month, for a few bucks, and offer it for free on...
I completely agree. Double the draw calls means double the CPU costs, unless they using instancing, etc..
His CPU is NOT up to running that game on high settings. I doubt Fallout 4 VR was written in DX12 -- if he wants to complain about what the devs did wrong, that should be his focus. His 3.5 GHz Haswell isn't going to cut it, unless the devs went to the trouble of multithreading the rendering, and chopping drawcall costs, via DX12.
The trouble w...
VR games are actually CPU bound, typically. Pushing a newer open-world game to high settings, in VR, is just a bad idea. As soon as you drop below 90 fps, you're gonna get ill.
If it's an open world game, and if the game isn't written in DX12 or Vulkan, where the CPU cost can be minimized, or the game isn't an older title that expected less from the CPU, you shouldn't VR, IMO.
Win10 Minecraft (not the crappy Java mod, where you have ...
Having BC will hurt Sony's pocketbook over time, because used games are worth playing, and Sony doesn't see money from resales. Have you noticed how all the GameStops, and other games stores, have vanished over the past 7 years? That's because Sony killed BC, and MS didn't bring it back in time, plain and simple.
They won't offer BC, no matter how easy it will be to accomplish. Have they offered PS2 or PS1 BC, despite having it on several other of the...
PS5 will NOT be BC -- by Sony choice, not by impossibility -- just like this gen, with PS2 and PS1 BC..
Sony will tell you "hold on to your PS4", rather than put the effort into giving you BC. People just don't want it, or care, according to their studies.
No, this site will stop after March, since Sony would lose their price comparison every month at that point.
Hahahaha... you're joking, right?
This site is so ridiculous. To get the value out of their PS+ vs GwG price matchup, you have to own THREE Sony consoles, whereas you only need to own ONE Microsoft console.
How is that an apples-to-apples comparison?
I fully expect that this site will stop doing the price comparison altogether, once the PS3 and PSVita games fall off the menu, after March, because it will no longer support their Sony overlords to do so. It'll only be ONE console vs O...
I think I'll wait for a source like Digital Foundry to verify that there are "no differences", rather than some businessman who is worried he'll upset some of his business partners before said business is done.
We're talking about the price of a low-end device. The price of a KB+mouse+controller+OS adds up faster than you think.
The article has it right -- you can't truly build a PC both as powerful and cheap as the Pro, without reusing parts -- it's not possible.
