Dear Reggie:
Your new console has been out for over a year. You need games.
There hasn't been a single crossplat where the XB1's framerate is lower than the PS4's. That's not a surprise, given the timid approach devs are using with the XB1.
I wouldn't be surprised if the XBox One was a little lower rez, but it'll likely be better than 720p. I would wager that the choppiness in the video will be lessened, or eliminated, on the XB1, however.
I sincerely doubt the PS4's GPU is the cause of the struggling 30 Hz framerate, from the footage in the video.
I won't be impressed unless I see "1080p and 60 Hz".
1080p at 30 Hz is practically the same amount of work for a GPU as 720p @ 60 Hz, which is "last gen", according to some folks (not me, personally).
I doubt that any zombie game is bound by the GPU -- more likely the CPU, in running all the zombie AIs, physics, and animation. I would wager that there are going to be *plenty* of 1080p/30Hz games this gen, for exactly this reason -- it...
The youtuber doesn't understand what Rubin is saying at all. He's stating that he's not inclined to buy a Wii U, because there are no good games for it.
That may or may not be true, but you could probably rightfully state that its "more true" than pretending there are no good games on the X360 and PS3. A new parent, buying a new console, would be inclined to NOT buy Nintendo... that's what he's saying.
There's no dark "...
I suppose that, without a publisher, it will be an indie game on PS4... which is cool, but I wonder how they will host MP games, without some server support from a larger entity?
So... this is a PC game, and not PS4?
Seems like Sony should be reaching out to help these guys in bringing back SOCOM to their platform, with their big helping hand for indies.
Woot!
Really looking forward to some more free PS3 games, if this is a free service. If its not free... well, I don't really care much, since used PS3 games are gonna be cheap.
lol. iBuyPower machines are reknowned for their low-grade components. I guess it makes sense that they would offer the cheapest SteamBox.
@johndoe11211:
Check out AngryJoe's review of KZ:SF -- you can see the shoddy AI in his video review pretty clearly, during the several sections in which he hammers it. Having played the game, I completely agree.
Oh.. I see you have already seen the AngryJoe review, since from your recent comment history, you posted on that article. Maybe you're just trolling?
There are plenty of other video reviews that point out the same issues, s...
The PS4 has been observed to run 10-14' hotter than the X1, according to Kotaku.

Note these two quotes from the article:
Article: "When taken a closer look, two disabled compute units are present inside the PS4’s GPU which acts as an emergency, just in case the other fails. The compute unites cannot be enabled."
This is kinda wrong. These two extra cores are disabled at the factory, after reliability tests. They exist for factory yield reasons, and will never turn on in case of "emergency". If one of your 18 active ...
Feel free to back up your comments with some facts, or intelligent commentary. I'm always interested in a good tech discussion.
It's very unlikely that Sony would push even more power through their hardware than 1.6 GHz would do. The heat design just barely fits within the envelope they've created with the svelt little PS4 box.
Heck, look at FP games like Killzone. The AI is pretty bad in that game, yet the graphics are downright spectacular. Kinda screams "lack of CPU muscle", since AI is not something you can run effectively on the GPU.
It's 1.6 GHz, until p...
A better series of tests might involve task/app switching, and the like.
You would think the X1 would have the advantage in that department, but Anandtech showed that the Sony browser will actually use all available cores when running things like Javascript, whereas the X1's browser will limit itself to the 2 cores devoted to the OS.
That's both a good and bad thing, for both camps. Sony's machine will perform better when its just doing browsing,...
The settings greater than 24 bpp are probably used by the upscaler, and by TVs which have movie Motionflow (that's the Sony name) type technology, which renders "inbetween" frames from otherwise 24-60 Hz source material.
Good review. I totally agree. Technical spectacle, dumb AI en masse, mostly boring game.
I actually see the game as a good opportunity for devs to really make some cool games down the road. KZ proves they can be spectacular. Someone else just needs to show us a great game.
I'd rather have a locked 60 fps in campaign mode than some of the post-processing they mention, but I'll take it!
It's important to note that Sony had 2 weeks in Nov, and MS had just 1, but I doubt many PS4s were sold on that 2nd week, due to lack of supply.
