The reasons he gives are... pretty lame, in the PS4/XO context. Focusing on one platform, for quality reasons, was totally valid in the last console gen, where the console architectures were different enough, but now the difference between the XO and the PS4 is not even as great as the difference between the PS4 and the PS4 Pro.
Likewise, the Japanese market being non-existent for XO is only true in Japan. If that was an actual reason, they wouldn't bother translating...
No. The idea that it is, due to sales lead, is too simplistic. The console landscape is a LOT more complicated than that.
The PS2 was not only the sales champ (which is obvious to anyone), but was also a unique architecture, and arguably the slowest performing console of it's peers, outside of the Dreamcast. It was also the hardest to program for -- thus costing publishers the most to develop games for it, giving them the *least* reasons to make an exclusive for it. ...
I haven't played Exiles, but the Conan stories are freaking great. Any good games based on said tales should be awesome, with a decent investment. Maybe I will pick up Exiles, and it will have nothing to do with the size of my character's (or other characters') parts.
It will be because Conan.
Nintendo makes the best games. They aren't hard to finish, just hard to master, which is the way games should be. The Dark Souls / Megaman approach to gaming only goes so far, when it comes to being fun, and Nintendo games stand the test of time by not going there -- by making mastery optional, rather than a requirement.
That said, it's only people who understand the awesomeness of Nintendo software that are pre-ordering the Switch. It won't last.
I been looking for a backup Wii U for a while, and haven't found one. =\
This makes me sad, since I have some great Wii U games, and my Wii U is bound to suffer from drive failure or something, one of these days. If only it had launched ~2 years earlier...
Ha ha ha?
Lotta delusional presidents these days.
Okay LBP3 is awesome. Not a Hero is okay, if you can stand the humor style.
The other PS4 games are... bad. I checked out the Steam reviews on these indies, and they are not well-liked. I can't call this a big upturn for PS+, since LBP3 is Sony published, and thus cheaper for them to dole out for free.
Knack next month -- I called it right here. Sony published, kinda bad sales... perfect PS+ candidate.
They just sold me a copy of Spider-man.
It was congress, not "Obama", and it was based on intelligence data concerning imminent terror threats. Trump's ban doesn't ban a single country that has yielded a terrorist attack on the US, ever. ...probably because he does business in those countries.
You do realize that trying to compare desktop technology (last gen consoles) with mobile technology (the Switch) is a flawed comparison, even if the mobile tech is newer? 2013's Tegra K1 was the first mobile GPU to surpass the Xbox 360's 2005 desktop GPU.
8 years is a mighty big difference, because... battery. It's only because the Wii U GPU is barely on par with some 2007 chips that any mobile tech can best it.
These are hardly true side-by-sides. They are taken at different angles (so the light reflects off water on the Switch screen, and not the Wii U), different times of day (showcasing better lighting on Switch), and slightly different locales (showcasing better geometry on Switch). Kinda suspicious that small variations in angle, time, locale all favor the Switch, I think. Nintendo Defense Force in action again?
I'm gonna have to wait for the Eurogamer comparison. TBH...
In a sense, it is... except with 100% BC. What's the diff, really?
I don't see a problem with that.
Wow, really? I 1-downed him. The 3DS fanbase.. they just aren't gonna move up.
Remember when the 3DS was $249.99 and NO ONE bought it, until they dropped the price to $179.99? If they chop the price from $299.99 (*cough* who spends that on their kid, when they know the thing will be dropped left and right, and it has a HUGE breakable screen, unlike the clamshell 3DS?), then maybe.. but then they'd be super dumb, because they'd be losing money like crazy on ev...
Nope. U wrong again, Pachter. I'm going with 5 million, tops. Only grown-up Nintendo fans, with a lot of disposable income, will bite, and they are not as numerous as they once were. I'm being generous with the 5 million, too.
That said, I'm buying one. However... I know it's more of a collector's item, like a TurboExpress or PSP Go, rather than a console investment. Just about everyone who is buying one -- I bet, deep under their joyful appreciati...
I'm totally getting one, day 1. I don't want to miss out on this future collector's console, when they stop making them next year, due to lack of demand!
So.. the Switch has more texture detail. That's nice. Not unexpected, given that it has like 4x the memory of the Wii U.
How is the framerate, I wonder?
Shutting a company down is usually a way to dispose of it's leadership, not it's workforce, and to make the books look good, temporarily. It is kind of a jerk move, emotionally for the employees, but simply firing the leaders and replacing them doesn't usually work as well as laying off the studio and distributing the employees to other studios, or letting them find work elsewhere.
Getting your whole studio laid off is a thing that just happens every few years ...
...said the guy who runs the company that makes the hardware.
Grain of salt, anyone?
I'm not seeing this MS imposition in previous exclusive titles like Lost Odyssey, and Tales of Vesperia, which were arguably some of the finest games developed in Japan in the past decade.
You sure about your accusations? Seems to me like you're blowing fanboy smoke. Maybe MS just didn't want the hero to show his hiny so much. Feel free to post some examples of MS pushing western ideas into Japanese devs, that back up your comment, so you can demonstrate that...
Wow. This article is like 5 years too late?
And also? The Wonderbook games, namely the two Harry Potter ones, Book of Spells and Book of Potions, were probably the best Move games... yet this article doesn't mention them.
