As long as they aren't KINECT games, or TIMED Multiplatform games then thats good.
But I will be going into it not expecting it.
Achievements need to be improved.
Trophies are a much better representation of when you get all the trophies for a game by having a Platinum trophy.
Microsoft need to incorporate something similiar.
Achievements do not ruin gameplay or how you play, because they are OPTIONAL. You don't NEED to do them. People who don't like them, simply ignore them.
Achievements though can IMPROVE gameplay and the longevity of the game, if that person choose to do them and enjoys them.
It seems like the author has gotten to serious about achievements to the point of near addiction?
He can only blame himself for that. If he can't simple ignore...
In all seriousness
I really really really doubt Microsoft will eclipse Sony at E3.
Kinect games ain't going to cut it. Non-game related features is not going to cut it.
The only thing really is them announcing lots of 1st party games, including new IPs and I don't see this happening.
Crysis 3 is proof of this. All graphics with average gameplay. Some sections were cool, like stealthing in and blowing up the dam, but 90% of the game was boring as hell.
And this is what has me worried about the new consoles. Will it just focus on graphics and forget about gameplay?
Am I the only one who had no problem with the DPAD?
Then again I don't play fighting games, but when I used it for weapon switching etc, it always selected the weapon I wanted.
Mika. I disagree. PS3 beat the 360. It had more sales and it had a much much better game library, which is most important to gamers. So PS3 beat the 360 this generation, despite the price and poor start.
No it doesn't need to expand beyond games.
There are devices out there that do facebook, movies, streaming etc better then the ONE or PS4. PC being one of them.
Nothing does gaming better then the consoles, at least the 360 or PS3, so thats what they should stick it.
I have other devices for the other stuff.
Sure it will struggle...
Just like PS2 struggled against XBOX..
Just like PS3 struggled against 360..
Unless the ONE has a huge number of quality exclusives (non-kinect or casual), then the ONE will struggle against the PS4.
To bad PC gaming platform is irrelevent.
I can play all core games that are on PC currently ALREADY on either my PS3 or 360. Same thing will happen with PS4, making PC useless.
No wonder the PC market is so damn tiny
Hmm with these next-gen consoles, I really really really hope they don't focus on graphics (Crysis 3) and forget about quality gameplay.
Gameplay on the PS3 version will be exactly the same. Only difference is the visuals :)
People need to stop comparing the Vita to the 3DS. Yes they are both handhelds, but they are 2 different markets. VIta is more of a mature/core type audience, while the 3DS is more of a casual and kids type audience.
Of course the 3DS is going to sell more. Casual audience is a much bigger market. Bigger market = more sales
3DS is for casuals and kids. Different market. Bigger market. Of course its going to sell more.
Competing with tablets? LOL Wrong audience. tablets are focusing on casual people.
PS4 at least is focusing on CORE gaming. Different market.
TIme for Nintendo to quit making casual consoles. The Wii was a one off. Casuals have moved on to iPhones,iPads etc for their casual games.
Maybe they should pull a SEGA and just start making games for other platforms.
Dark Souls was definitely dumbed down difficulty wise, lets all be honest here. Not saying Demon Souls was very hard, but it was a lot less forgiving then Dark Souls.
- Dark Souls has more checkpoints (Bonfires)
- No real repercussions when you are hollow, like in Demon Souls your health is reduced to 50%, or 70% with a ring.
- Bosses are more basic and easier in Dark Souls.
Too many checkpoints/bonfires in Dark Souls.
I can ...
How can a BELOW AVERAGE game be a win? LOL
THe platform that wins next generation is the one that has the best quality games library. PS3 won that this generation and the path Microsoft seem to be taking with their games, the game quality library gap is going to be even bigger between the PS4 & 720, then there is now between the PS3 & 360.
If the game is heavy on story and the ending is crap, it can really dampen a games story, even if the gameplay and the story were amazing until the ending.
If the ME3 ending was BRILLIANT, I would of played the games all over again 1,2,3, but the ending being what it was, I have had no desire what so ever to touch the games again.
Depending on the game, a bad ending can really have a big impact on the overall game or series, even if the story up to that point...
Actually Sony don't. Sony have proven they deliver when it comes to 1st party core exclusives (PS1, PS2, PS3).
They don't have to prove anything, it's pretty much set in stone going by their history.
Microsoft however need to prove it big time and many many people are cautious now, considering their 'shift of focus' away from gamers during the end of the 360 cycle.
