Is the number of games for the PS3 that have been sold in America. From http://www.vgcharts.org/amo...
Games sold in America for the PS3: 2,684,750
Number of copies of Gears sold in America: 2,510,000
Gears came out a week or two before the PS3 so that is pretty impressive that it has managed to sell almost as much as every game combined.
These numbers are pre Motorstorm so I am su...
Market cap = # of outstanding shares times the price of the stock
Sony has 1 billion shares and the stock price is 51 dollars. Therefore their market cap is 51 billion
MS has 10 billion shares and the stock price is 27 dollars.
Therefore their market cap is 270 billion
The number of shares affects the price. If Sony issued a 2 for 1 stock split there price would reduce to 25.50, but now they would have 2 billion shares. Market cap would still b...
Not 3.4 Since you referenced vgcharts I figured I would reply with this. vgcharts shows that there are 2.08 million PS3's sold, and a total of 3.4 million games sold. That comes out to 1.7
Details from one of my earlier posts on a separtate story that explains this:
28.2 - yeah but if you compare their Feb sales report they look pretty close
http://www.vgcharts.org/amo...
Prolly not AAA since it is basically a remake of a pretty recent game. Prolly not a must have if you owned it on Xbox. However I am glad that the PS folks get to see this awesome game as it was prolly my favorite game from last gen. Just like I wish some of the Xbox only folks had the chance to experience some MGS or God of War goodness. Either way it's a must have for me on PS3.

For example both top 10 lists are similiar and the sales totals are really close for the month of Feb.
If you look at the top selling PS3 games in Feb(Just for America) and their overall totals it doesn't add up to an attach rate of 3.4 3....
1) A better or equal service that is less expensive
2) Need more friends to buy the PS3. Even if PS3 was better today right now most of my friends have only a 360. Well some have a Wii but I don't and I don't plan on getting one any time soon.
From what I hear Japanese love the Ipod and that's an American product that has Japanese competitors. Not saying that it's easy but it is possible.
Very fun game my only complaints is there is no split screen and the load times are way too long. I know I could go online but for me it's not the same as having people in the living room to compete against. I guess I should take the reviewer's advice and purchase the headset.
Although the slow motion crashes are awesome to watch after awhile I just started skipping so I could get back to racing. Is this why there is no split screen? Because of the slow motion crashes? I can...
But who cares. This game is awesome. I even liked it better than God of War(which I loved as well)
Can't wait to play this on the PS3, and can't wait for the sequel on 360.
This is basically a repost of what I said in post 14 but I am curious as to how the numbers are so different.
From vgcharts
America and Japan sales for PS3: 2.08 million
American game sales: 2.6 million
Japan game sales: 800K
total game sales: 3.4 million
That is an attach rate of 1.7
So
1) Who is more accurate? NPD or vgcharts
2) If NPD is more accurate why does anyone even use vgcharts? There numbers are so off....
According to http://www.vgcharts.org/amo...
It sold 57K copies and was 28th in the list.
Granted I know vgcharts isn't accurate but I do see a lot of Sony fans constantly referencing it. Anyways maybe I am misinterpreting the data but here is what it shows:
2.08 million consoles sold
3.4 total software sold.
That's an attach rate of 1.7
Edit 3.4 million total sofware sold
Just so I am in the know, can you point me to a website that has all the gaming facts listed? I was under the delusion that Halo was the most anticipated title of 07. But thanks for setting me straight by informing me that Halo not being good is a known gaming fact.
Although I may be talking out of my ass since I haven't done it yet, however I have played for about 5 hours and took first in some level 3 races.
From what I have seen so far MS prolly made a mistake passing on Heavenly Sword. Not a huge mistake since their game lineup is looking really good for the rest of the year but it would have been a nice feather in their cap.
I walked into a gamestop a couple of weeks ago to buy a PSP. I was taking a long road trip from Seattle to Dallas and wanted a way to kill some time. The guy who helped me out tried 3 times to steer me away from the PSP and over to the DS Lite section. I can understand trying once but I basically told him that although I know the DS has way more games, the game I wanted to play was MGS Portable Ops. He then told me that PSP was being discontinued(maybe, I don't really know) and that there...
The value of a company is determined by its market cap not how much revenue they generate. Market cap is price of stock multiplied by the nunber of outstanding shares. Microsoft's market cap is 260 billion:

Sony's market cap is 51 billion:

It's not that devs are lazy. It's that they are typically a skeptical bunch. If the PS3 had some games that totally blew away what the 360 has then the devs will do the extra work to learn the new programming paradigm. However right now, games on PS3 look at best equivalent to what the 360 has. Think about it, if you had to work twice as hard to achieve the same productivity or study twice as much to achieve the same grades you wouldn't be too excited about it.
I too am a d...
Don't get me wrong I own both a PS3 and 360, and both are worth the money I paid for them. However both of these consoles have a high barrier to entry. The type of consumer that will fork over 800 bucks for a console(tax, 1 game, hdmi cable)will also be the type that wants to play these consoles on a hi def TV. A next-gen console with a last gen TV just won't cut it. By comitting your dollars to the console you are basically comititing to other more expensive purchases. Also casual gamers...
and feel the same as you. I will prolly go with the 360 version for three reasons:
1 - Achievements. Never used to care about these things until I started playing Crackdown
2 - Controller. I prefer the 360 controller
3 - Online. Even if Sony's was comparable at the time of release, most of my friends have 360 only so if their is some online aspect to this game I will prolly get more enjoyment by going with the 360 version.
