Just more spin from Sony and you guys eat it up. In September 2001, not even a year after the PS2 had been released in America unit sales were 19.57 million:

Those sales figures are a lot better than just barely over 5 million that the PS3 currently sits at.
Apparently the Wii and 360 are doing a better job of converting PS2 users.

"The 60GB Starter pack will remain on sale until stocks run out (a number of months, depending on territory.) Thereafter, the 40GB model will be the only SKU in the SCEE region."
If this is true than BC may not be an option for some. BC is important to me, and as you mentioned not so important for others. I ow...

"Backwards compatibility, as you know from PlayStation One and PlayStation 2, is a core value of what we believe we should offer. And access to the library of content people have created, bought for themselves, and accumulated over the years is necessary to create a format. PlayStation is a format meaning that it transcends many devices -- PSOne, PS2, an...
However for the last couple of months they are trending down. Also by the time MGS2 dropped PS2 already had 19.57 million consoles sold, or just a few million less than the lifetime of the GC. Now FF10 dropped in July 2001, and the 19.57 figure I gave before was from Sept 2001, so I am sure that FF moved consoles but not at the rate you indicated.
I wonder why people keep perpetuating the myth that PS2 sold slowly out of the gate? It didn't. It just didn't have a worldwid...
For those who claim it's not a system seller, I guess 1 out of every 3 xbox 360 owners just happened to pick the game up within the first 5 days of release. I am sure Halo wasn't a factor in their decision to purchase a 360.
MGS3 did 3.9 million WW for it's entire life. Halo in 5 days has nearly eclipsed that. FF12 did 4.9 million WW. How many more days till Halo has eclipsed that?
I am just curious to know. I know others on this thread don't care, so PM me the details on what issue you guys ran into.
Your right it is a matter of preferences, as both frameworks are good and increase developer productivity. I was just replying to bilal's original post where he mentioned that no other good projects came out of MS other than Windows or Office. Sql and Exchange are billion dollar products. .NET and VS are wildly popular and successful.
As far as unsafe, it's actually a keyword in C# and doesn't necessarily mean that it is dangerous. Just that the ref won't be managed by the ...
.NET passed J2EE in marketshare back in 2006. Keep in mind J2EE had a big head start. However as of 2006 .NET commands 60% of the market.

The first six months that the PS2 was released it was only in Japan. So when people claim that the sales are similiar they are only comparing 6 months of Japan PS sales vs 6 months of NA PS3, 6 months of Japan PS3, and 3 months of PAL PS3 sales.
mySql isn't enterprise ready, and that is why it is free. Oracle and DB2 do have a lot of Fortune1000 type customers however Sql Server's market share grows every year. Sql Server is one of four MS products that product over 1 billion dollars a year. In fact the server and tools unit (which Sql server is a member of) has the highest revenue and profit growth rate inside of MS
Name a better IDE than VS. How is Java more powerful than C#? C# is free as well. The .NET framewor...
It appears some one on this thread has dual personalities.
In your opinion the PS3 lineup is better. However, lets judge who has the better games by using actual numbers that give a better representation than just one single opinion. If you go by sales and reviews the 360 lineup slaughters the PS3.
360 has 22 games that have sold over a million copies. PS3 has 2. 360 has 9 games that average 90 or higher on metacritic. PS3 has 1 which is Oblivion, which was on th...

And Snake beat her. He also helped invent CQC which all forms of hand to hand combat are based off. The nod goes to Snake.
BTW SC is a better stealth game. However MGS is better because of better story, interesting bosses, and cool boss fights.
Is the best by far. Maybe GOW has better story, maybe HS has better graphics, however NG by far has the faster and better combat system. That is why it is the best action hack/slash game out.
NGB was the best game on the original xbox. So far NGS is the best game on the PS3. I am sure that NG2 will not dissapoint.
"PS3 is doing slightly worse than how the PS2 was doing at the same point in its life cycle"
PS2's first 6 months, the console was only in Japan. So yes the sales line up for 2.5 regions (since Europe launched 3 months late) vs Japan only. Which by the way is the smallest region of the big 3.
PS3 sales have definitely been dissapointing for Sony. A year ago I am sure most Sony fanboys didn't expect poor sales either, although many will claim that ...
If so it could mean that the recent shipments to retailers are less than normal. I heard that Nintendo is trying to make a bigger push in the US to catch the 360 so they have been shipping more to the US, and diverting shipments from Japan.
If that is the case and they are still sold out in Japan than this news means nothing.
According to vgchartz it outsold both Lair and Warhawk last week. It was the first week for all 3 titles. I have seen positive sounding articles posted here recently about "Lair and Warhawk in the top 10" and "Warhawk sold over 100K"
So based off that it isn't getting entirely ignored.
Since you are a big fan of vgchartz. Here is a snippet from http://www.vgchartz.com/new...
"NPD July data for Canada and the United States will be released next week (Wednesday for Canada, Thursday for the United States) at ~6:30 PM EST. Data will cover July 8 to August 4."
Another link I found from a quick search:

When they say increase in overall sales, they just mean that the overall sales total increased.
So if they sold at least one console that is considered an increase in overall sales.
By that standard I am sure the Gamecube saw an increase in overall sales during the month of Sept as well.
